Final Card for AWL 46

It’s been a busy week here at AWLwrestling.blogspot.com.  With all the news flying around, here is your handy-dandy guide to this weekend’s AWL 46 event.

MAIN EVENT: Video Cybernetico II!

The top six wrestlers in terms of win-loss records will compete to determine who enters the AWL Best 4.  The rules of a Video Cybernetico Match are as follows:  6 men compete in a 3 on 3 elimination tag team match.  At the end of the match, if there is only one survivor, he is declared the winner.  If more than one wrestler survives on the winning team, those survivors must wrestle in an elimination match until only one winner is left standing.

Semi Final: Lucha (2) vs. Libre (0)—Hardcore Rules Match.

              Libre is in desperate need of a win but with his more sadistic brother in the picture, will the Little Luchadore Who Could be able to pull off the upset?

Black Tiger King vs. Wonder Kid—10 Minute Challenge.

              It’s undefeated vs. unstoppable.  What the heck else do you want?

Matt Classic vs. Lee Masters—Submissions Only Match.

              After a disappointing outing against Kid Canada, Lee Masters is going back to school in the ring with his trainer, mentor, and friend, Matt Classic.  It’s sure to be a treat and a clinic for all technical wrestling fans.

The following message was delivered to the AWL offices by courier and has been transcribed into this electronic format for your convenience.

Dear Commissioner,

              It is my sincere hope that this letter finds you in good health and high spirits.  Even with hooligans like the N.R.E. running amuck, the fortunes of the Animate Wrestling League appear to be on the rise.  With my Technicos as the AWL World Tag Team Champions, you may rest assured that there is at least one division of competition that is and shall remain free of controversy.  With all due respect to Ma-Ji-Ku, the little man is quite the credit to his people, the team of Lee Masters and Sammy Nix stand tall above all AWL Wrestlers in their technical prowess and they’re unbridled sense of sportsmanship.

              At this time, I feel I must make two requests of you in your capacity as match maker for the Animated Wrestling League.  Firstly, I implore you to book the Tag Team Championship Match between my Technicos and the Masters of the Mask.  The two young Mexicans have been #1 contenders for weeks now and it’s high time we get to it.  My men are restless and see this delay as insulting to the AWL Tag Team Championship.

              I am fully aware, as are my men, that Libre is previously engaged to fight his brother in a hardgore match (or whatever it is the kids call that malarkey) at AWL 46 so I am asking you to make the title match for AWL 47.

              This brings me to my second request.  In the meantime, I would like to request a match for myself at AWL 46.  As I am certain you are aware, a couple of weeks ago my student Lee Masters lost a Submission Exhibition to Kid Canada.  I am concerned with this relaxation in his submission wrestling skills and would like to take the opportunity to administer some remedial submission training and can think of no better forum than the AWL ring.  I am requesting a Submissions Only Match between myself and Lee Masters at AWL 46.

              We here at YTM Inc. are pleased to hear that the AWL Commissioner is taking our campaign to raise the quality of competition around here.  Speaking on behalf of the AWL World Heavyweight Champion (now nearly 3 months into his full year title reign), we look forward with great anticipation to defeating the winner of Video Cybernetico in his eventual 10 Minute Challenge.

              Unfortunately, we continue to be dismayed at the AWL Commissioner’s stubborn refusal to reveal the identity of the current #3 Contender:

                            4. Video Cybernetico Winner.

              An athlete the caliber of the Man Muscle Mountain needs time to prepare for his opponents, that’s what the Best 4 system was about in the first place!  The opportunity for champion and challenger to anticipate, train, scout, and prepare for each title match in order to give the AWL fans the best wrestling on the Internet today.  It saddens all of us here at YTM Inc. to see that the commissioner has lost sight of this.

Announcement from the AWL Commissioner

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, I am the AWL Commissioner.  Tonight, I have a special announcement regarding the AWL Best 4.  While I agree with Yarina, that increasing the level of competition for the Animated Wrestling League World Heavyweight Championship is a good idea, it needs to be a more . . . complete system than just the 10 Minute Challenge.  Therefore, I have COMMISSIONED a match at AWL 46 to choose the newest member of the AWL Best 4.  For only the second time in AWL history it will be: Video Cybernetico!

Furthermore, the Video Cybernetico Match will feature the 6 AWL wrestlers with best win-loss records (number of wins minus number of losses) to ensure that only the best of the best may challenge for the title and that Wonder Kid will have the level of competition he so desperately desires.  THIS, I have COMMISSIONED!!!  Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

I don’t know what you were doing during the off-season, but I went home to visit mother and father.  I had to tell them what had happened to you.  I had to tell them that their first born son was a rudo.  I wish you had been there to see mother’s tears.  I’m sorry Lucha, but I don’t think I can forgive you for that and if I have to beat some sense into you, I will.  See you at AWL 46 “Brother.”

Here now is the card for this weekend’s AWL 45 event:

MAIN EVENT: N.R.E. vs. The Masters of the Mask—2 on 3 Handicap Match.

              This will be the second match in the Best of 7 Series between Lucha and Libre.  Since Lucha won last week, he got to name the stipulations for this contest.  In true N.R.E. fashion, he has selected a tag vs. trio handicap match so Libre will team with AWL Light Heavyweight Champion Ma-Ji-Ku and Lucha will team with Wrestler X and the “Boxing Bastard” Bruce Hoyt.  Will Libre even the score?  Or will Lucha pull ahead 2-0?  Find out in just a few days.

Semi-Final: Wonder Kid vs. Silver Potato—10 Minute Challenge.

              One of the greatest cons in wrestling history continues as the Idaho Icon tries to “earn” his title shot.  10 minutes with the champion will get him the title match that should be his anyway.

Black Tiger King vs. Shin Tora

              After last week’s revelation that neither one of the Super Tiger Brothers knows Black Tiger King, the younger member of the team (and the last man to call himself “Black Tiger”) has requested this match with the undefeated New Year’s Tournament Winner.  It’s Tiger Style vs. Tiger Style at AWL 45.

American Beetle vs. Bruce Hoyt

              Action in the Light Heavyweight Division as the best punchers in the Animated Wresting League face each other one on one . . . theoretically.  With Bruce Hoyt involved (and scheduled for the 2 on 3 match later in the evening) the odds are good that the rest of the N.R.E. will make their presence felt.

Big & Spicy vs. Wild Pack Returns

              The whole night begins with the Tag Team Division.  The dancing fools vs. the Twilight slash fic waiting to happen.  Yeah, I’ve run out of good ideas on how to promote this event.  So just watch it!

Horray!  Post #100!!  I wanted this to be a video and not an all text post.  So here are the in-character blog posts from this past week:

Brother, were have we gone wrong?  First, you turn on me and now the N.R.E.?  What happened to the big brother I looked up to and wanted to be like?  I’m sorry Lucha, but someone has to stop you before it’s too late . . . and it had better be me.  I hereby challenge you to a Best of Seven Series!  Commissioner, please make it happen.  This thing between us needs to end.

1.1. MATCH APPROVED!!  Beginning at AWL 44, there will be a Best of Seven Series between Lucha and Libre.  Furthermore, the winner of each match will decide the stipulations for the next match.

              Ladies and gentlemen of the AWL, neither I nor my stu…partner Shin Tora are in any way connected with the man known as Black Tiger King.  Neither of us have ever met him, we do not know his real name, and we have no idea why he is in the AWL or what he wants.  Somehow he has learned the Tiger Style of professional wrestling, but he didn’t learn it from either of us.

              We hope this clears up some of the confusion and we are sorry we can’t provide any more information.  Know this, there will be a reckoning someday.  Black Tiger King has stolen our likeness and the sacred mantle of the Tiger Mask Dynasty. Someday he will have to pay for that.

              Until then, we don’t know anything about this guy.  Please stop e-mailing us.

3. OK folks, a very quick news post this week.  First off, we’d like to thank everyone who tuned into our National Pro Wrestling Day Special.  We probably won’t do those kind of “two in one week” events that often, but we might pull it out for special occasions.

Now, on to business.  With Hassan losing his 10 minute challenge to Wonder Kid, here are the newest Best 4 Rankings going into AWL 44 this weekend:

Ganba earned his way into the #4 slot by coming in second in the 2013 New Years Tournament.  While AWL management dislike Wonder Kid and Yarina’s “Never defend the title” strategy, forcing potential contenders to prove themselves is a laudable idea.  Therefore both the Best 4 system and the 10 Minute Challenge will remain in effect until further notice.

Additionally, the full card for AWL 44 has been announced:
