AWL 353

OK, I've been unacceptably lazy in keeping up this blog.  I'd blame my upcoming international move but you're wrestling fans and don't care about that sort of thing.  So, as AWL 360 is getting ready to start airing next week, I'm going to start catching up with back episodes.  So, here from back in the first week of May is AWL 353: GOLDEN WAR 2021!

Monday, May 4, 2020

Full Card for AWL Supercard: Golden War 2020

The matches are set.  The Golden Quadrangle faces its first real test at the hands of some of the best the AWL has ever seen.  Tag team partners will clash, mysteries will be unveiled, and stars will rise.  We may be staying home to save lives, but the wrestlers of the Animated Wrestling League are going to WAR!

AWL Supercard: GOLDEN WAR 2020!
MAIN EVENT
Jigoku DESTROY (C) vs. ResuRED (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match
3rd Title Defense
In the main event, the greatest prize in all of animated wrestling will be on the line as the leader of the most prominent heroes of the AWL faces Dr. Jigoku’s newest and most successful Augment.  The winner of the 2020 edition of the prestigious New Year’s Tournament.  An AWL Triple Crown Champion.  The most successful wrestler in terms of both career wins and win-loss records.  The only augment DR. Jigoku has ever put his name on.  Jigoku DESTROY!  It’s a clash between hero and monster for the AWL Grand Championship!

The Augments (C) vs. The New Classics (3)
AWL World’s Tag Team Championship Match
1st Title Defense
From the leader of a great team to the undisputed greatest team in the history of the AWL.  Two Season 0 Originals that have held the AWL World’s Tag Team Championships a record setting six times defeating legendary teams like The All Americans, Big & Spicy, The AWL All Stars, Bullet Club, and Nippon Yokatta to win the gold.  What do all those teams have in common?  None of them exist in the AWL anymore and, apart from Bullet Club, none of them exist at all.  We can only hope the Augments will join that list.

X-Drone © vs. Azteckaizer NEO
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
1st Title Defense
When it comes to the only championship in the AWL where the AWL Commissioner has unilateral authority to name a challenger, he is not pulling ANY punches.  He has named the most recent former AWL Grand Champion and man with one of the most impressive win-loss records in the AWL.  Furthermore, it’s possible that the X-Drone’s duplication systems will be unable to copy the full power of the Star of Aztec.  But can we risk the power of the IC title on a mere possibility?

Dragoness © vs. Akira Merune (#1)
AWL Joshi Championship Match
4th Title Defense
The only title match at this year’s Golden War that doesn’t involve the Golden Quadrangle.  Dragoness has done a respectable job of establishing herself as a champion with some impressive and decisive title defenses.  But now she faces far and away the biggest challenge of her career, her own tag team partner and the woman who defined the AWL Joshi Championship.  Dragoness has never defeated Akira Merune in a title match.  Now she must or lose her best just as her title reign is hitting its stride.

K & K (0) vs. Yamada Jiro & X (0)
Points in Play
Yamada Jiro seems to be on a roll when it comes to getting on his soap box and lamenting the sins of the Japanese people…and then losing matches to the people he calls out.  This time, he’s doubled his trouble and set his sights on the team of former stable mate Kyoujin Kobayashi and all time asshole Tanaka Kenichi.  As much as I personally oath the idea of hoping Tanaka Kenichi wins a match, this might be an exception.  But Yamada has one rather large problem…everyone hates him.  He claims to have a partner lined up, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Ma-Ji-Ku vs. ????
Just yesterday, a strange post was made to this blog by person or persons unknown.  Nobody knows who posted it, but the only part that made sense was that a challenge has been laid down.  As a result, the Warrior of Light has agreed to take on this open challenge.  He knows something about the forces of darkness, so there’s none better to be the first to tackle what ma be a new threat to the Animated Wrestling League.

Hasaiki vs. Mr. Smiles vs. Michael Dunne vs. Hifumi Ryuji vs. King Akira vs. The Roc vs. Black Tiger Justice vs. Satoshi Tobu.
Over the Top Rope Battle Royal!
It’s a simple fact of the professional wrestling business that matches on Supercards pay better than normal bookings and winning on a Supercard pays better still.  That’s why the AWL Commissioner has decided to take 8 wrestlers from lower down the rankings of the AWL and throwing them into this battle royal situation.  No titles are on the line but momentum and an all important trip to the pay window most certainly are!

Yamada Jiro issues a challenge

The following message has been translated from the original Japanese by the AWL Translation Team.
Of all of humanities failings, there is none worse than treachery.  No criminal more unforgivable than the traitor.  Naturally, this is not a failing in the Japanese soul.  At least, not naturally.  But we can be corrupted by foreign influences.  That is what has happened to my former student Kyoujin Kobayashi.  He has been seduced by their clothing, their money, and that race traitor Tanaka Kenichi.
I have requested a match with both of them at Golden War.  But the AWL Commissioner won’t allow me to “engage in an unfair fight” as if Tanaka Kenichi counted as a whole opponent.  Well, very well, I have a partner.  It wasn’t hard to find someone better in the ring than that bleached blonde fool.  Literally ANY Japanese man would suffice.

Ryusensei here wrestling fans.  Not sure what that racist idiot is talking about, but the match has been signed for Golden War 2020.

K & K (0) vs. Yamada Jiro & X (0)
Points in Play

Guess we’ll have to wait until Golden War to figure out what is going on here.

Golden War card so far and broadcast announcements

Greetings grapple fans.  Ryusensei here with all the news of the next AWL Supercard: Golden War 2020.  As you either know or could easily deduce, the Japanese government has proclaimed this year’s Golden Week as STAY HOME WEEK!  So, why not stay home and watch some professional wrestling with the AWL.  Thanks to our robotic Simuverse of fans, the AWL will present out biggest supercard of the year from the AWL Dojo on Tuesday May, 5th Japan time.  That will be followed by AWL 313 on Sunday May, 10th.
Here are the matches already announced for Golden War 2020 with FOUR championship matches including the entire Golden Quadrangle defending their titles!

AWL Supercard: GOLDEN WAR 2020!
MAIN EVENT
Jigoku DESTROY (C) vs. ResuRED (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match
3rd Title Defense

The Augments (C) vs. The New Classics (3)
AWL World’s Tag Team Championship Match
1st Title Defense

X-Drone (C) vs. Azteckaizer NEO
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
1st Title Defense

Dragoness (C) vs. Akira Merune (#1)
AWL Joshi Championship Match
4th Title Defense

And this match just announced by the AWL Commissioner’s Office:
Hasaiki vs. Mr. Smiles vs. Michael Dunne vs. Hifumi Ryuji vs. King Akira vs. The Roc vs. Black Tiger Justice vs. Satoshi Tobu.
Over the Top Rope Battle Royal!

There are still a few days until the Supercard so there’s a good chance more matches will be added to the event.  So stay tuned to this blog for all the news in the Animated Wrestling League!

Two title matches announced for Golden War 2020

With the next AWL Supercard right around the corner, the AWL Commissioner is wasting no time finding challengers to try and take the AWL championships back from Dr. Jigoku’s Augments.

Jigoku DESTROY (C) vs. ResuRED (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match
3rd Title Defense
The bad doctor’s greatest weapon faces the leader of the Purosentai Resurangers.  Now, to be clear, this is ResuRED’s rightful  shot as #1 contender in the AWL Best 4.  Red is NOT cashing in his Golden Opportunity.

X-Drone (C) vs. Azteckaizer NEO
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
1st Title Defense
Yeah, the Commissioner is pulling out the BIG guns for this one, isn’t he?  X-Drone is only a few days into his reign as AWL IC Champion and his first challenger is the most recent former AWL Grand Champion!  I guess with The Augments controlling all the men’s gold, there’s no room for half measures.

As for the tag team titles, there’s plenty of time for a team to make their way to 3 points.  Over in the Joshi division, well…tune back in tomorrow.

Full Card for AWL Supercard: Golden War 2019

So, it turns out having all of your staff off work for the 10-day Golden Week means you can’t get the blog posts out.  Please accept my apologies for that.  Here is the full card for AWL Golden War 2019:
MAIN EVENT
Ganba Hisshi DARK © vs. Tiger Mask II (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match
3rd Title Defense
With the challenger fully cleared to complete we have a serious chance to end the Reign of the Demon.  The man who saved us from GWM years ago may be the one to save us yet again.

Akira Merune (C) vs. Athena Jane (#1)
AWL Joshi Championship Match
7th Title Defense
One year ago, Akira Merune climbed the ladder and made history as the first AWL Joshi Champion.  Now she holds so many other accolades, double champion, undefeated, longest reign of active champions, second longest reign of ANY champion in ANY division in AWL history.
Across the ring will be the biggest challenge in the history of the Joshi Division.  This is a match one year in the making!  Athena Jane has suffered some set backs in her quest to challenge for the Joshi Championship (many of her own making) she has risen to the top of the AWL Best 4 and now has a chance to shut all her critics (including me) up once and for all.

Azteckaizer NEO (Star of Aztec) vs. W-01 (Mask)
LUCHA DE APUESTAS!
A match set just a couple of days ago.  Dr. Jigoku has laid down the challenge.  He will wager the control masks of his slaves for any prize he deems worth his time.  In this case, it’s the legendary Star of Aztec.  The mystic gem in the helmet of Azteckaizer NEO that gives him his super human strength and wrestling ability.  The risk is HUGE, but the reward is equally so.  Azteckaizer NEO wants to save his friend and former Shin Jidai tag team partner Wyvern/W-01.  Friendship?  Or the Future of the AWL?  Find out at the Golden War!

Erupcion Solar (C) vs. Estrella Dorada
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
3rd Title Defense
Liga Cosmica Explodes
A couple of weeks ago, Estrella Dorada turned on his partner and AWL IC Champion Erupcion Solar.  His excuses have already appeared on this blog so I will not repeat them here.  Suffice to say they’re nonsense.  Solar immediately agreed to this title match because he wants to prove that he is not and never was the weak link of the team.

???? vs. ????
AWL Dojo Graduation Match
No idea who this will be.  But I know Dragon and he wouldn’t allow anyone to enter a Graduation Match unless they were ready for the main roster.  So I’m looking forward to seeing new blood in the AWL.

The Spirit Pack (C) vs. The Tiger Brothers (1)
NON-TITLE MATCH!
Points in Play
It’s the job of the AWL Commissioner to maintain some semblance of order in this wrestling promotion.  But sometimes you make a match because it’s going to be awesome!  After the FANTASTIC match between these 4 high flyers where the title changed hands from the tigers to the Spirit Pack, the AWL fans around the world have wanted to see the rematch.  The title can not be on the line as the points aren’t there, but this match is my dark horse pick for match of the night.

Big Time Thug S vs. Danger 13 vs. The Empire vs. Nippon Yokkata (Hasaiki & Hifumi Ryuji)
Danger Zone 4-Way Tag Team Elimination Match
Points in Play
The Batsuamania Match at the Season 14 Finale is less than two months away.  Every team in this match has one member in the Danger Zone.  Not only is it possible to earn 3 points in one match, it’s possible to pick up 3 wins in the win-loss rankings.  That could be enough to push one of these men into safety and more than enough to condemn others to the Danger Zone!

8-Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal!
Winner Receives a Future AWL IC Title Match
Sometimes you just want to get everyone on the card.  But beyond that, it shouldn’t take a tag team breaking up to compel an Intercontinental Championship match.  So, the AWL Commissioner has decided to kill two birds with one stone.  The winner of this match will challenge either Erupcion Solar in his 4th defense or Estrella Dorada in his first.

Monster Union (0) vs. The Flying Yukis (0)
Points in Play
New Member Debuts
The AWL has the deepest tag team division anywhere in the wrestling world.  Obviously, we’re going to fill out the ten-day war with tag matches.  First up, Monster Union has a new male member so they can officially field a challenger for the AWL World Tag Team Championships.

Super Smash Brothers (0) vs. Nippon Yokkata (Lie-ger & Yamada Jiro) (0)
Points in Play
Super Smash Brothers’ AWL Debut!
Rounding out the card, the Animated Wrestling League is honored to welcome one of the greatest tag teams of the early 21st century.  The Smash Bros were part of a groundbreaking era of independent wrestling, an era without which the AWL would not exist today.  We welcome them happily…most of us anyway.  Nippon Yokkata are just upset that we have more foreigners hanging around the locker room.
It’s going to take two videos to fit it all in, but this is shaping up to be one of the best AWL events of all time!

A Ten Days War!

This year Japan will celebrate the dawn of a new era and the crowning of a new emperor with an unprecedented TEN DAY GOLDEN WEEK!  Of course, we here at the AWL have our own celebrations and this year our annual Golden War Supercard is also set to be bigger and better than ever.
We’re looking for challengers to as many titles as possible.  That forces us to confront some unfortunate truths.  First of all, the AWL Grand Championship must be defended on such an auspicious event.  But the current #1 contender, Tiger Mask II, has not been cleared to compete.  He has a final medical check before this weekend’s AWL 274 event.  If the doctors don’t give him the OK, he will sadly be forced to forfeit his title opportunity and the next man in line (H-03 of the Dorei Corps) will take his place.
Over in the tag team division, The Empire only needs one more point to challenge The Spirit Pack for the AWL World Tag Team Titles.  We can only assume at this time that they will get a shot at that 3rd point this weekend at AWL 274.
Finally, in some unqualified good news, Dragon has informed the AWL Commissioner that he has two students ready to move from the AWL Dojo to the main roster.  So, for the first time since the New Year’s Tournament, it’s time for a Graduation Match and it will take place at the Golden War!

Full Card for AWL Super Card Golden War 2018

Golden War 2018 is less than 48 hours away!  We have the full card including every match in the AWL vs. NJPW Series!
MAIN EVENT:
Athena Jane vs. Dragoness vs. Akira Merune vs. Usa-chan
AWL Joshi Championship Ladder Match
It’s a match that’s been months in the making, 4 of the best female wrestlers in the world today will fight to climb the ladder of success and become the first ever AWL Joshi Champion.  There will be many future champions, but only one can be first.

HAKAISHA (C) vs. Project 2.0 (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match—4th Title Defense
An unusual match for many reasons.  Not only is it unusual to see the Grand Championship defended in anything other than the main event, it’s virtually unheard of for anyone to challenge for the Grand Championship twice in a row.  But that’s exactly what Project Tetsu earned the right to do after running the table in the 4-way reshuffle match last weekend.
HAKAISHA, on the other hand, is looking to continue his V6 Project and set a new record for the most title defenses in a single title reign.  The current record holder with 5 defenses?  Project Tetsu!
HAKAISHA has beaten Project Tetsu before.  Project Tetsu has beaten HAKAISHA before.  Who will come out on top as the AWL Grand Champion?

Tiger Mask W (C) vs. 新時代 (3)
AWL World’s Tag Team Championship Match—1st Title Defense
After surviving the longest match in AWL History, Wyvern and Azteckaizer NEO have more than earned the right to face the new AWL World’s Tag Team Champions in their first title defense.  The 3-Point System ensures that every set of challengers are qualified to be champions.  Will the Unified School of the Tiger Style be enough to meet the challenge of the New Generation?

AWL vs. NJPW Series:
Ganba vs. Okada Kazuchika
Non-Title Match
Two of the best wrestlers in Japan today.  The most decorated AWL Champion in history versus the objectively greatest IWGP Heavyweight Champion in history.  There’s only one statistic that matters here: Ganba has NEVER beaten Okada one on one.

AWL vs. NJPW Series:
T49P (0) vs. Golden*Lovers (2)
Points in Play
Thanks to a time limit draw, the Golden Lovers came away from the Tag Team Gauntlet with 2 points.  If they win this match, not only do they earn a victory for New Japan, they write their ticket to a title match against either Tiger Mask W or T49P.

AWL vs. NJPW Series:
Ma-Ji-Ku vs. Jushin Thunder Liger
THIS!  This is the match I want to see!!  Two legends, both they undisputed #1 masked wrestler of their respective promotion.  They have never faced each other one on one.  In two days, that changes and we all get the opportunity to witness it!  Nuff said!

AWL vs. NJPW Series:
Chiba Akagi vs. Will Osprey
Non-Title Match
Last weekend, Chiba Akagi (who I think we need to start calling the One Man Tag Team) forced the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion to tap out to the manji-gatame.  But, that was an Atomicos Match.  This will be one on one.  If Chiba Akagi can replicate the feat, I smell a title shot in his future.

Doombunny (C) vs. Frederic Victor
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match—2nd Title Defense.
Even though it’s been under his self-imposed system of rules, it’s technically accurate to say that Frederic Victor has been winning a lot of matches lately.  That hopefully explains the AWL Commissioner’s reasoning in booking this last-minute IC title match.  All titles must be defended at the Golden War, so now we have fulfilled that requirement.
Until the show, have a happy Golden Week!

Throwing down the gauntlet match!

If you remember back at our Season 12 premier, we had a friendly contest between the AWL and New Japan Pro Wrestling that ended in a time limit draw.  Well, we were perfectly happy to part as equals, but New Japan has other ideas apparently.
According to my sources, the Golden*Lovers showing up in the Tag Team Gauntlet Match was the casting of the gauntlet…er…pun not intended.  We have been challenged to an inter-promotional series of matches at Golden War 2018.
I speak on behalf of the entire Animated Wrestling League, wrestlers, staff, and administration: WE ACCEPT!  New Japan, bring your best, we’ll see you on Golden Week!

Golden War 2018 card so far.

That…was the longest…freaking…match…I have ever called!  DAMN!  The next Tag Team Gauntlet Match isn’t scheduled until this fall at the Tag Matsuri.  At this point, that’s not nearly far enough away.  But the good news is that we now have #1 Contenders for the AWL World’s Tag Team Championships at Golden War 2018.  That means the card so far is as follows:
MAIN EVENT:
Athena Jane vs. Dragoness vs. Akira Merune vs. Usa-Chan
AWL Joshi Championship LADDER MATCH

Tiger Mask W (C) vs. Shin Jidai (Wyvern & Azteckaizer Neo) (3)
AWL World Tag Team Championship Match
1st Title Defense

Fall out from The Golden War.

The Animated Wrestling League was humiliated last week!  Myself, the AWL Commissioner, the Translation Team, and even the temp workers nobody remembers ten minutes after they leave worked our collective backsides off to put together a one of a kind tournament.  Something that has never been attempted in professional wrestling before (and probably never will again) and the AWL Grand Champion LOSES IN THE FIRST ****ING ROUND!!!

Well, that simply won’t stand.  The AWL Commissioner has decided that Wrestler X simply can’t be allowed to remain at AWL Grand Champion any longer than necessary.  Therefore, the following match has been announced for AWL 212:

Jack Butcher (#1) vs. Tiny (#2)
Rank on the Line
Winner faces Wrestler X for the title at AWL 213!

No matter who wins this number once contender’s match, the king of gimmick infringement will have to channel his inner monster to keep his belt at AWL 213.

While the Ultimate Summit was an embarrassment for the AWL, it was yet another accolade in the career of easily the best Japanese wrestler of the 2010’s, the Rainmaker Okada Kazuchika now has a Golden Opportunity.  The unquestionable right to demand any match, any time, any place, any opponent, any stipulation and not even the AWL Commissioner can veto it!

However, Okada is not the only man in the AWL with such power.  THUGLIFE Tanaka Kenichi also holds a Golden Opportunity that he got for winning the Clash of Styles tournament last season.  (Golden Opportunities do not expire.)

So, because he’s not above booking a match just because it’s intuitive (and because we all enjoy watching Tanaka Kenichi getting his ass kicked) the AWL Commissioner has done the obvious:

RAINMAKER Okada Kazuchika vs. THUGLIFE Tanaka Kenichi
Battle of the Bearers

And yes, this will be the main event of AWL 212.

Check back tomorrow for more news from the Animated Wrestling League.

Former Grand Champion to Return at GW17!

Great news wrestling fans!

After not being seen since the New Year’s Tournament, former AWL Grand Champion and Season 0 Original GANBA has been cleared to make his return to the AWL at Golden War 2017!!  Ganba has been on the shelf for the past few months nursing a series of nagging injuries that have built up over his long career.  He will face El Rudo Rojo in his return match at GW17.  But he’s not coming alone.  His friend and tag team partner in The AWL All Stars “Peacemaker” Luke James will also be returning and is set to act as cornerman for Ganba’s match.  Here is a message from the Nashville native for all of you on behalf of Ganba:

Sometimes tha good Lord just allows everything ta fall perfectly inna place.  At the exact time Ganba had ta take some time off ta recover, I had’a return ta the States ta deal with some family business.  Nothing bad.  But still urgent.  And I tell ya what, it took a lot longer than either of us expected to be ready to come back to the AWL.  Well, that’s all in the past and we are ready to come back and give y’all the type of action y’all’ve come to expect from the AWL All Stars.  It starts at The Golden War.  The Japanese Megastar is back and as another Tennessee cowboy used to say, Rojo, SORRY…about yer damn luck!

As for what happens after The Golden War?  Heh, y’all ‘er just gonna haveta wait and see, let me just say that the old school still has some old business ta finish!

--Luke James.

Two Title Matches for Golden War 17

Much of the focus of Golden War 2017 has been on the Kyuukyoku Summit (and understandably so considering the unprecedented nature of 8 champions competing in one tournament), but it’s important to remember that there will be other matches on this show (that’s what makes it a Super Card after all)  so today I’m here to confirm that there will be two championships defended during Golden Week:
The Empire (C) vs. The Menagerie (3)
AWL World Tag Team Championship Match
1st Title Defense

Tiger Mask II (C) vs. Sylverhawk
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
4th Title Defense

For those who have not been following the AWL or the wider world in independent wrestling, the Space Monkey lost his Chikara Young Lion’s Cup over Wrestlemania weekend to Wani but this in no way revokes his invitation to compete in the AWL and Sylverhawk pinned Tiger Mask II in a tag team match several weeks ago to earn an IC title shot.

Two titles AND a Golden Opportunity will be on the line at AWL Super Card—Golden War 2017!  Don’t miss it!!

News dump

GWM Press Release:

Last weekend GWM SHOCKED the Wrestling World when our GWM World’s Heavyweight Champion made his first ever appearance in the AWL defeating former AWL Grand and Intercontinental Champion Tanaka Kenichi in mere minutes.

At The Golden War 2017, the GWM Universe will be on hand as The Third takes his rightful place atop The Kyuukyoku Summit!

--Miss X

OK folks, RyuSensei here.  You just read the press release from GWM manager Miss X.  Funny how she didn’t mention El Caracas’ loss last weekend, isn’t it?  Well, either way, we now know all 8 champions who will compete in the Kyuukyoku Summit Tournament for a Golden Opportunity at Golden War 2017.

Therefore, I can now reveal the bracket and match-ups for the first round of this unique tournament:

Match 1: Juan Francisco de Coranado (Chikara) vs. Wrestler X (AWL)
Match 2: Johnny Mundo (Lucha Underground) vs. Christopher Daniels (RoH)
Match 3: Okada Kazuchika (NJPW/IWGP) vs. Texano Jr. (AAA)
Match 4: Drew Galloway (WCPW)* vs. The Third (GWM)

All matches were decided by random draw.  Matches in the first and second round will be contested under 15 and 20 minute time limits respectively.  The final match will have NO TIME LIMIT.  In the event of a time limit draw, BOTH wrestlers will be eliminated from the tournament.
It all goes down during our AWL Super Card—Golden Week 2017!

*Recently, WCPW General Manager Plumpy went on YouTube saying that WCPW had two remaining dates with Drew Galloway before he becomes a full time NXT talent.  That wasn’t exactly true.  They had 3 dates with Drew and we here at the AWL offer our most sincere thanks to them for giving us one of those three dates for this tournament.

3 More Champions Announced!

Golden War 2017 is going to be a truly international event.  Here are three more champions that the AWL Commissioner has signed for the Kyuukyoku Summit:

5. Lucha Underground Champion: Johnny Mundo.

6. AAA Mega Champion: Texano Jr.

7. WCPW Champion: Drew Galloway.

As always, these names are subject to change in the event of title changes between now and the Golden War.  In the event that Drew Galloway is unable to appear due to his commitments to WWE and NXT, a suitable replacement will be found.

Fall out from AWL 209

Ok AWL Fans, there’s a lot to go over today so let’s get to it.  First of all, we have NEW AWL World’s Tag Team Champions: The Empire.  This changing of the guard seems like an excellent chance to take a look at the Tag Team Division…By The Numbers!  (Imagine a cool echo effect there please.)

Current Champions: The Empire (Frederick Victor & Big Jerry) since 4/9/17.
Length of Reign: 2 days.
Title Defenses: 0

3-Point System:
3 Points: None.
2 Points: The Menagerie.
1 Point: Shin Jidai (Matt Classic Jr./Azteckaizer NEO), XyberhawX2000 (Nyte Hawk/Sylver Hawk), The Augments (X-Drones)
All other teams have 0 points.

Moving on to other news, after the #1 Contender’s match at AWL 209, we have a championship main event for next weekend:
AWL 210
MAIN EVENT:
Tiger Mask II (C) vs. Yellow Devil (GWM)
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
3rd Title Defense

Lastly today, the AWL Commissioner has announced the next two champions who will join Wrestler X and Juan Francisco de Coranado in the Ultimate Summit Tournament as AWL Supercard: Golden War 2017:

3. IWGP Heavyweight Champion: “Rainmaker” Okada Kazuchika.

4. ROH World Champion: “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels.

The top title in Japan and one of the most respected titles of the 21st century join the tournament.  This is going to be GOOD!
That’s all for today.  Check back tomorrow for more news from the Animated Wrestling League!

Commissioner's Weekly Address

Good evening ladies and gentlemen.  It has been a fascinating week around the Wrestling World. And the excitement shall continue through the month of April into May and our annual spring Super Card: The Golden War!

Previously, I released the name of my latest project, as part of my plan to open the doors of the Animated Wrestling League to more talent from the wider world of professional wrestling.  To wit, I have COMMISSIONED the 究極のサミット or Kyuukyoku no Summit.  A one night, 8 man tournament to take place at the GOLDEN WAR in just under 4 weeks.

In a format thus far only dreamed about in the back pages of wrestling magazines, this tournament shall be composed entirely of THE TOP SINGLES CHAMPIONS from all over the Independent Wrestling World!!  They shall bring their belts and the honor of their home promotions to the AWL Arena.  While no titles will be on the line, pride most certainly shall be…as will a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY!

Details are still being worked out, but I can announce the first two champions who will attempt to climb the ultimate summit:

1. AWL Grand Champion: Wrestler X.

2. Chikara Grand Champion: Juan Francisco de Coronado.
