Final promos and final card.

Last day, last chance to say your piece. It is the eve of battle. So let the champions and challengers speak:
1. El Santo Azul (Translated from Spanish): Brother. Why? You hurt me, and we fought. We fought, and I took your mask. I took your mask, you turned your back on our family. How much worse do you want this to get? Tomorrow we will fight again. I will take your title and you will have to fight for your life. Please brother, if you survive this, choose a better path.

2. HAKAISHA/BUNNY:
DOOMBUNNY:Finallyit'sallover! WearegonnabeatbothofthosebigdumbjocksandmaketheTagTeamDivisionandtheAWLabetterplace. SuperGiant! Ihaven'tforgotwhatyoutwocheatersdidtomewhenyouSTOLEmyAWLWorldLightHeavyweightTitle. I'llgetthebeltbacksomeday, butthat'sforanotherday. Tomorrow, weendyou!

HAKAISHA! (Translated from Japanese):
Jack, you are everything I was. You are everything I should never have been. Tomorrow, I erase my past and begin my future. A future where I do things The Right Way.

3. Crisis Gundan.
Jack Butcher: You self righteous wanker! "The Right Way!" What the hell does that mean? That line's as dry as a dead dingo's donger. You know bloody well that the best time of your career was when I carried you to being the first undefeated Tag Champs in AWL history. Tomorrow, Imma prove that you were always the weak link. And then next season, I'm coming for that belt.

Super Giant: Bunny b***h, I beat you. That's all that matters.

Finally, we have some comments from the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion, Hassan. This message was e-mailed to us from Hassan's home in New York City.
4.Hassan: Hey there AWL, IC Champion Hassan here. It sucks that I'm going to miss the finale, but my leg's still rehabbing. But my main man AmB is going to steamroll through Batsumania and next season the All Americans will be back better and better than ever.

As for this beautifual white and gold belt of mine, Ryback is a false champion. I beat Vacant for this title fair and square. Yes, Ryback won one of the worst elimination chamber matches of all time, but he never beat me.

Right now, WWE doesn't recognize me as IC Champ, but bare with me until next season, hopefully I'll have some good news on that. Until then, peace out AWL.

Pre-finale faction promos.

As the AWL Commissioner pointed out a while ago, there are several factions that have popped up over the last season or so. Glancing over the card for AWL 140 (only 2 days away), nearly half of the matches will involve a member of one or more of these factions. Since we only have so much room for promos, I decided to gather comments from all four groups.

1. AWL All Stars.
Luke James: No. We ain't crazy. Folks have been saying that ever since Dragon and me agreed to fight Bullet Club at the Finale. Well why shouldn't we? Ain't nobody got 3 Points! There ain't no good reason we should be left off of the card this Sunday. So why not let those Bullet Club boys try their hands at the champs? Make them earn that 3rd point!

2. Bullet Club.
A.J. Styles: HO YEAH BOYS! We're on our way to the TOP of the AWL. In two days, my boys are getting their 3rd point and I'm in the Best 4. That's a given. Now let me tell you what's going to happen in Season 8. The AWL Tag Titles ARE coming to Bullet Club. And either my man Fale or yours truly (The Phenomenal One) are going to be AWL Champion. And you know what, it DOESN'T MATTER which of us gets that belt. Because one way or the other, the belts belong to the family. Cause that's what we are. Bullet Club is a family. Bullet Club is 4 Life. Bullet Club is TOOOO SWEEEEEET!

And ya'll know it!

3. Augments
Dr. Jigoku: My newest experiment is nearing completion. This Sunday in the trios match, I will enter the final phase of testing. The other "rookies" (Just another word for INFERIOR!) will face the first time in the history of science that a clone has been successfully fitted with cybernetic enhancements. A whole new bread of Augment will be born this Sunday and will be proved...SUPERIOR.

At the same time, my first project. My Iron Project will take the first step toward finally proving all the fools wrong. Artificial super soldiers are the FUTURE of combat. Once Project Tetsu becomes AWL World Champion, I'll have investors from every country on earth BEGGING me to make them an ARMY of Augments. Validation. Validation. Validation!

4. New Classics
Sammy Nix: A'rite. We've got good news and bad news. Lee is hurt. Light sprain that he got in a training session last Tuesday. He won't be at AWL 140 and he hates it. It's not too bad and he'll be fine by next season's premier. But Junior and I will be on our own this weekend.

For years we've been seen as "Just a tag team." Even in a company like the AWL that respects tag team wrestling, that means we get written off as second stringers. But I get a chance to make it to the singles title. It's gonna be a big challenge. That cyborg freak is a damn monster. Ganba's one of the best in the biz, nothing but respect. Styles? He's great. He's a jackass, but he's great. It's gonna be the biggest challenge of my career but I'm the strongest man in this company. I'm the Mayor of Suplex City and this weekend I'm going to drop those three on their head AND watch the kid win the trios match. It's gonna be a blast.

I'll be back tomorrow with more promos from the main event.

Million Dollar Body with a 10 Cent Brain

Well, he's done it this time. With only 4 days to go until AWL 140, I think Wonder Kid has finally dug himself into a hole he can't get out of. Early this morning the following message arrives here at AWL HQ:

3 on 1? You call that a fair challenge? Come on old man. That's not a fair challenge. When I told you to give me competition I didn't mean tag teams and 3 on 1 crap. I want to fight people I've never fought before. Real men who I can look in the eye and say "You're the best in the world. But in a fair fight, I can beat you." That kind of competition doesn't exist in the AWL and obviously, YOU can't give it to me. So here's what you're going to do: Make me the #1 Contender. I beat HAKAISHA at next season's premier. I revolutionize the AWL World Heavyweight Title once again by declaring an open challenge to top level wrestlers from OUTSIDE the dinky little company. We both make money. Make it happen Commissioner.

A few editorial notes: First, it wasn't a 3 on 1 match, it was a gauntlet match. Yes, it was meant to be a test of his endurance as he fought 3 fresh fighters, but it was three 1 on 1 matches, NOT 3 on 1. Second, he lost. Third, the AWL Commissioner CAN'T make Wonder Kid #1 Contender because Bad Luck Fale already has that spot and (Because he won Video Cybernetico) he can't be reduced in rank. 4. Who the hell does Wonder Kid think he is? The AWL Commissioner does not take kindly to being disrespected (just ask El Rudo Rojo) and I'm hoping that he will address this whole mess tomorrow in his weekly address.

Tag Teams Clash at the Finale!

5 days to go until the Season 7 Finale.

Sadly, we will not be able to give you a tag team championship match at AWL 140 because no team has the necessary 3 points to challenge for the AWL World Tag Team Championship. But that doesn't mean the tag team division will be left off of the show.

Late last night, Bullet Club sent in a request (more of a command really, and I think they were drunk when they wrote it) for a match at the finale to earn their third point. Well, being more than a little sick and tired of their garbage, the AWL Commissioner has agreed. This Sunday at AWL 140, Bullet Club will go for their third point against...The AWL All Stars!
Non-Title Match
AWL All Stars (C) vs. Bullet Club (2)
Points in Play!

That's right, the World Tag Team Champions will be in action at AWL 140!

Let the countdown begin!

We are 6 days away from AWL 140, the Season 7 finale. Yesterday, two matches were confirmed for the event. We have some new information about those bouts that are exclusive to AWLWrestling.blogspot.com:

We already knew about the Rookies' Showcase Trios Match, but now we know more about the teams and who will be participating. The Piledriving Pyromaniac that you met yesterday, Kanetsu will be involved and in breaking news, Dr. Jigoku has informed the AWL offices that his newest Augment will be the final participant!
Matt Classic Jr, Chiba Akagi, & Captain AWL vs. George Fraiser, Kanetsu, & (New Augment)
Rookies' Showcase Trios Match

Also, the one and only title match at AWL 140 was signed as El Rudo Rojo will defend the AWL Light Heavyweight Championship against his little brother El Santo Azul. This will be the first one on one match for the brothers since the end of Season 3 where, in the only lucha de apuestas in AWL history, El Santo Azul took his big brother's mask.

But this time even more is at stake. Not only is the AWL World Light Heavyweight championship up for grabs, but El Rudo Rojo's career may be as well. Allow me to explain:

Right now, the title is the only thing keeping El Rudo Rojo out of Batsumania. But what if he isn't the champion by the time Batsumania happens? This year, the AWL Commissioner has decided to schedule the AWL World Light Heavyweight Title Match BEFORE Batsumania! That means that, if El Rudo Rojo loses the title, he will have to fight for his life!

The lesson? Never piss off the AWL Commissioner.

Updated AWL 140 card:

I'm guessing you all saw something like this coming.

Good evening knave. I am the AWL Commissioner.

Wonder Kid. I do not suffer fools lightly. You desire new competition? Very well! This weekend, you shall face the cream of this season's crop of AWL Rookie Wrestlers. Wonder Kid vs. Matt Classic Jr....and Chiba Akagi...AND Captain AWL. Gauntlet Match!

THIS! I have COMMISSIONED!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

--XOXO AWL Commissioner.

A big man runs his mouth.

What part of "Give me a challenge" does the Commissioner not understand? I don't mean stick me in a damn tag team with a guy I barely tolerated when I was being paid to hang out with him. Give me someone to fight. Someone I haven't fought and beaten a dozen times before. Can you do that commish? Or do I have to use smaller words?  I'm the Man Muscle Mountain and you had better give me what I want.  Or else.

--Wonder Kid.

Commissioner's Weekly Address

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I am the AWL Commissioner and I have exciting news regarding AWL 140, our upcoming season finale.

I have been very impressed with the recent class of rookies that have been introduced to the AWL through the Dragon Debut Series. So impressed in fact that I have COMMISSIONED!!!! A trios match for AWL 140 that I call the Rookie Showcase. The trios team of Matt Classic Jr., Chiba Akagi, and Captain AWL will face the team of George Fraiser and two other rookies who have yet to debut. One will debut this weekend at AWL 139, and the other will make his first appearance at AWL 140.
Speaking of the finale, with HAKAISHA successfully defending his AWL World's Heavyweight Championship against Ganba last Sunday, we need a new #4 Contender in the AWL Best 4. We will determine this at the finale. I have noticed that a lot of factions seem to be popping up in the Animated Wrestling League lately. So let us get a little faction warfare started. I have chosen 4 factions of 3 or more wrestlers who will select one competitor to enter a one fall 4-Way Match. The winner of which will enter the best 4:
For AWL 140:
AWL All Stars vs. The New Classics vs. Bullet Club vs. The Augments
Faction Warfare
Fight for 4

Finally, here is the card for this weekend's AWL 139 event:
Main Event:
Super Giant vs. DOOMBUNNY
Grudge Match
Partners Barred from Ringside

Big & Spicy (2) vs. Bullet Club (0)
2 Point/15 Minute Match

Dragon vs. ????
Dragon Debut Series

Tiger Mask II vs. Kid Canada vs. El Santo Azul vs. E.N. Hance
Danger Zone Match

1. American Beetle
2. Jon Shina
3. Joe Obber

There are currently 4 wrestlers tied for the last slot. Next weekend at AWL 139, there will be a 4-Way Match. The loser of which will fall into the Danger Zone with no chance of escape.

A whole lot of promos.

Friday is turning into promo day around here. Let's start of with the young man who debuted last weekend and became the first person to WIN their Dragon Debut Series Match. Ladies and gentlemen, the newest member of The New Classics: Matt Classic Jr.

Wow! I gotta admit. I didn't expect to win that. Dad always told me that Dragon was one of the best in the world and he didn't say that about a lot of the boys. And I agree with him. Let's be clear about this. I beat Dragon on the night. I was the better man on the night. But I'm not a better wrestler than Dragon. Not yet anyway. One of the lessons that's been drilled into my head, "In that ring, any man can beat any other man." And that's what happened at AWL 137. Dragon made one critical mistake and I was able to take advantage and win the match.

What mistake? Simple, Dragon heard my name, saw my mask, and expected me to be a carbon copy of my father. Well Dragon and the AWL fans learned better and fast. I love my dad, I'm proud to wear his mask, but I am my own man and I wrestle my own style. Yeah, you'll see the Classic Claw, Matt Classic Press, that sort of thing. But just as dad represented the history of professional wrestling, I represent the present and the future. The future starts now!

Humble and impressive words from the young masked marvel. Coming up next we have comments from the champion and challenger in this weekend's AWL World Heavyweight Title Match. For the sake of simplicity, these comments have already been run through the AWL Translation Team and will be published in English. First, the Challenger:

Ryusensei: Ganba, thank you for your time. Before we discuss your match this weekend I have to ask you about AWL 137. With HAKAISHA unable to appear for your announced match, you could have won the title by forfit, but you refused the match. Why?

Ganba: Really? Do you think I want to become champion that way? No. HAKAISHA beat me fair and square at National Pro Wrestling Day to win the title. I want to do the same to win it back. I've waited most of the season to get a title shot, I can wait a few more days.

R: OK, thank you. Now, HAKAISHA is going to be a part of the Tag Team Grudge Match main event at AWL 140. Your match this weekend is the last title match scheduled for this season. Do you think HAKAISHA is looking past you to Crisis Gundan and does that factor in to your stratagy this weekend?

G: I don't know. You'll have to ask HAKAISHA. But I'm 100% focused on this match so I expect that he will be as well. If not, that's his mistake. I always do my best and this weekend will be no exception.

I also caught up with the champion and asked him much the same questions:

Ryusensei: HAKAISHA, this weekend you defend your AWL World's Heavyweight Championship against Ganba. But in just two and a half weeks you and DOOMBUNNY face Crisis Gundan and the losing team must disband. With all that on your plate, are you going to be 100% focused on Ganba at AWL 138?

HAKAISHA: I have to be. Ganba is one of the best wrestlers in Japan, probably one of the best in the world. If I come at him with less than my best he's going to go home with the title. And I owe Ganba my thanks. He could have gone home with the title last week but he chose to do things the Right Way and I thank him for that. Make no mistake. This Sunday I will wrestle Ganba, I will do it the Right Way, and I will still be AWL World's Heavyweight Champion.

But come AWL 140, I will FIGHT Crisis Gundan and I WILL put the last of my past behind me. Yarina is gone. Yarina Talent Management Inc. is gone. Jack, Giant, soon you will be gone too!

That was supposed to be the end of the blog post for today, but nope. Just a few minutes ago we received a message from El Rudo Rojo and the AWL Commissioner has ordered it posted. You have been warned and you know who to blame...not me!

That pu**y commissioner is a cowardly dog and I don't care who knows it! I beat a ligit giant to become AWL World Light Heavyweight Champion (saving myself from Batsumania in the process) and not only do I not get the massive celebration I deserve, I haven't even been booked on the show in weeks! BULLS**T!! I demand a match at AWL 140. I'm a champion dammit, I should get the big money on the big shows!!

What a jackass! I'll be back tomorrow with By the Numbers.

Commissioner's Weekly Address.

Without further ado, here's the boss:

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I am the AWL...Commissioner. And I am rather angry this week. While I feel it is in the best interest of the Animated Wrestling League to cultivate an attitude of healthy competition among out wrestlers, things have gotten out of hand. I speak of course of the rivalry between Crisis Gundan and the former Golden Duo of HAKAISHA and DOOMBUNNY. Thanks to them, I was unable to present an advertised World Championship Match at AWL 137. This is UNACCEPTABLE!

Therefore I hereby COMMISSION a match between these teams at AWL 140. The rivalry will end there and then because this match will be contested under Grudge Match Rules, it will be an Elimination Match, and the losing team MAY NEVER TEAM IN THE ANIMATED WRESTLING LEAGUE AGAIN!
AWL 140: MAIN EVENT!
Crisis Gundan vs. HAKAISHA & DOOMBUNNY

Losing Team Must Disband!!

With that out of the way, here is the fight card for this weekend's AWL 138 event:
AWL 138:
Main Event:
HAKAISHA! (C) vs. Ganba (#1)
AWL World Heavyweight Championship Match

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

This is getting old.

I am getting really sick of starting off so many of these blog posts with "Here's my attempt to make sense of the chaos last weekend."

OK, last weekend at AWL 137 we were unable to present the advertised main event because the World Champion HAKAISHA was attacked backstage by Crisis Gundan and was unable to fight. Under AWL Rules, this would normally result in a forfit and HAKAISHA would lose the title. Lucky for him, as soon as the security camera footage of the attack became published, Ganba (The #1 Contender) refused the match himself. Therefore the match is offically a Double Forfeit and a No Contest. HAKAISHA is still champion and Ganba is still #1 Contender.

This weekend that match WILL take place. By order of the AWL Commissioner, anyone who interferes in that match before or during the contest will be fired. No excuses.
AWL 138 Main Event
HAKAISHA (C) vs. Ganba (#1)
AWL World Heavyweight Championship Match
5th Title Defense

As for Crisis Gundan. The AWL Commissioner has promised a special announcement regarding them tomorrow in his Weekly Address so stay tuned for that.

Lastly, I have some news regarding Batsumania. As of AWL 137, two wrestlers are mathematically locked in the Danger Zone. Meaning that there is not enough time between now and the season finale for them to win their way out of the zone. These two men WILL compete in Batsumania:

American Beetle
Jon Shina

Of interesting note, Jon Shina MUST win his first ever match in the AWL if he is to survive into Season 8. Things are looking good for American Beetle in that case. Also, the loss in the impromptu tag team match last weekend has pushed Tiger Mask II back down into the zone. He will have the chance to fight his way out this weekend at AWL 138.

AWL 137

AWL 137: HAKAISHA! vs. Ganba 投稿者 AWLBoss

OK, the video quality isn't very good.  I had to convert to an AVI file because for some reason Sony Vegas wasn't letting me use my usual MOV format.  I should have this fixed by next week but until then, please enjoy the show as best you can.

Lots of talking before lots of fighting.

We're starting off tonight with some brief comments from the 4 men who will compete to enter the AWL Best 4 this weekend at AWL 137:

Big" Ben Nelson:
Fantastic! Nobody in this company knows bettern than me that oportunities like this don't come around every day. I'm not wasting it!

Ma-Ji-Ku:
He sostenido cada campeonato en estacompañía excepto el World HeavyweightChampionship. Mi carrera no durará para siempre. No voy a dejar que esta oportunidadme pasan. Yo soy el guerrero de la luz. SoyLucha Libre.
(I've held every championship in this company except the World Heavyweight Championship. My career won't last forever. I'm not letting this chance pass me by. I am the Warrior of Light. I am Lucha Libre.)

Jack Butcher:
Aw yeah! This weekend, my old mate Wondy and I are going to walk all over those little guys right into the Best 4.

Wonder Kid:
Tag Team? I ask for a challenge and you put me in a freaking tag team match? I do not now and have never needed a tag team partner. Yeah, I could do a whole lot worse than Jack, but this still ain't what I had in mind.

And now some comments from the champion and challenger in this week's AWL World Heavyweight Championship Match:

Ganba:
(I'm proud of you. You said you wanted to do things the right way. You did it. Congratulations. But this weekend you will have to prove yourself all over again. I am coming for that championship. My championship. From start to finish, I always do my best.)

HAKAISHA!:

(First, I'm sorry. I'm sorry Kid Canada. I was in the wrong place last week. I nearly killed you. It's unforgivable. It wasn't the right way.

This Sunday I will fight the best in Japan. I must prove myself. 先輩 is correct. 俺も頑張ります。 I will destroy my shame. I will destroy you.)

DDS Promos

It's interview time! First up is the newest member of the AWL Roster, George Fraiser. Mr. Fraiser competed in the Dragon Debut Series where he was defeated by Dragon following his Tail of the Dragon Armdrag after Dragon caught Mr. Fraiser while he was posing for the fans. I caught up to Mr. Fraiser and asked him about his AWL debut match:

TOTAL NONSENSE! I won that match!! Dragon was knocked completely out of the ring. Even if that isn't considered a win, I clearly won the round on points. I need to have a serious conversation with the judges around here. Where are they anyway?

You need to have a long conversation with somebody buddy. Preferably the trainers back at the AWL Dojo.

Speaking of the Dragon Debut Series, we have something unusual this week. We're actually going to find out the name of the debuting wrestler before the match starts. For more I turn it over to Sammy Nix of the New Classics:

“The New Classics" huh? That name has never been more appropriate. This day has been a long time coming. This weekend the Dragon Debut Series will feature.....Matt Classic Jr.!

Yeah, Matt's son is getting into wrestling. As a favor to Matt, Lee and I have been training him at the Dojo for about 6 months now. The kid's a natural and we think he's ready to play with the big boys. This Dragon Debut Series thing is a perfect chance.

And yes folks, that's official:
Dragon vs. Matt Classic Jr.
Dragon Debut Series Match
Tune in this weekend for all the action!

This week's address.

Two points today: First, no news from WWE on the IC Title situation. Second, the boss has delivered his weekly address for you reading pleasure.

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. I am the AWL Commissioner.

First of all, let me tell you how proud I am of Hassan for fighting through a still injured ankle and becoming the first AWL Wrestler to win a WWE championship.

Now the show must go on and I have COMMISSIONED!!! The following matches for AWL 137:

Main Event:
HAKAISHA! (C) vs. Ganba
AWL World Heavyweight Championship Match
5th Title Defense
After coming so close to injuring Kid Canada last week, HAKAISHA has asked for another title match this week so that he may "prove himself" in the eyes of the AWL Fans. While I feel he has nought to prove to anybody, I would be lax in my duties if I refused to allow a healthy wrestler to wrestle. So the match is on.

Jack Butcher & Wonder Kid vs. Ma-Ji-Ku and "Big" Ben Nelson
Fight for 3 and 4.
There are currently 2 open slots in the AWL Best 4 and by the end of AWL 137 there shall be a third. This is unacceptable! Therefore we will use a unique method of determining contenders. This tag team match consists of the 4 of top ranked AWL Wrestlers in terms of win-loss records. The winners of this match enter the Best 4 and will fight each other later in the same evening to determine who gets the #3 position.

Finally, there will be another match between two AWL Wrestlers in the Danger Zone and the Dragon Debut Series shall continue.

THIS! I have COMMISSIONED!!!!!!!!!!!
