Full Card for AWL 317
I’m
going to level with you wrestling fans. This
isn’t an easy job. Trying to get interviews
and comments with some of the most dangerous wrestlers in the world can be a monumental
task. This week, it just proved to be
too much. I tried to talk to Dr. Jigoku,
Gisei, and The Manipulator ahead of this weekend’s two championship
matches. But all three managers basically
told me to hit the road…only they used more colorful language that I’m not
allowed to use in this blog or the AWL Commissioner will have my head on a
platter. So, instead of the usual end of
week promos we’re just going to show you what you can expect tomorrow at AWL
317:
AWL 317
MAIN EVENT
X-Drone (C) vs.
Hebitsukai
AWL Intercontinental
Championship Match
2nd
Title Defense
The Augments (C)
vs. Ganba’s Shadows (4)
AWL World’s Tag
Team Championship Match
3rd
Title Defense
Tiger Mask II vs.
Sammy Nix
Fight for 4
And
this match just added last night:
The Queens of
Wrestling (0) vs. The Modern Day Warriors (0)
Points in Play
With Akira Merune and Athena
Jane due to meet over the AWL Joshi Championship at AWL 320, the champion and
challenger will stand across the ring from one another in this tag team
match. Is it a cliché? YES!
Is it going to be fun? Also YES!! See you tomorrow for the 317th
episode of the Animated Wrestling League!

Fight for 4 Confirmed
With “The
Spirit Dragon” Shynron failing to defeat Jigoku DESTROY last week, there7s an
opening in the AWL Best 4. So, the AWL
Commissioner has taken a look at the win-loss records and come up with the
following match for AWL 317:
Tiger Mask II vs.
Sammy Nix
Fight for 4
Tiger Mask
II is currently sitting on a record of 84-64 for a ratio of +20 and Sammy Nix is
currently at 81-62 for a ratio of +19.
So, there’s little difference on paper for these two Season Zero Originals. But Sammy Nix has been AWL Grand Champion in
the past and Tiger Mask has not. This
match might come down to who wants it more.
No matter what, it sounds like a hell of a wrestling match.

Ranks Ranks Everywhere!
As is to be expected after a Supercard, there are holes to
be filled in in Best 4 rankings as the eternal quest for championship gold enters
its next phase. As such the following
matches have been signed for AWL 313.
Hassan vs. King
Akira
Fight for 4
King
Akira’s victory in the battle royal at Golden War 2020 has earned him this opportunity
to enter the Best 4. Hassan’s record and
status as a Triple Crown Champion speak for themselves. The winner will join Wyvern, Shynron, and Lee
Masters in the race to challenge for the AWL Grand Championship. Speaking of whom…
Wyvern (#1) vs.
Project-Z
Rank on the Line
Dr.
Jigoku has used the leverage controlling most of the AWL Championships to
institute a Guard Dog rule. Anyone
wishing to challenge Jigoku DESTROY for the AWL Grand Championship must defeat
one of Dr. Jigoku’s other Augments first.
The first wrestler to have to tolerate this rule is The Young Dragon.
Meanwhile
in the Joshi Division:
Ladies of Lucha
(0) vs. The Unholy Allience (0)
Points in Play
Fight for 3 and 4
The winners
earn one point AND enter the Best 4 with the wrestler who gets the fall or
submission taking the higher rank.

Full Card for AWL 310
Keeping
it short and simple this week. The AWL
Commissioner has announced the full card for this weekend’s AWL 310 event from
the AWL Dojo.
AWL 310
MAIN EVENT
Hassan (C) vs.
X-Drone
AWL
Intercontinental Championship Match
4th
Title Defense
Dr.
Jigoku’s master plan to control ALL the championships in the Animated Wrestling
League continues into Phase 4 as the ultimate gimmick infringer challenges The Arab
American Dream to a mirror match.
Hassan, as always, is ready to accept any challenge even if the risk is
Jigoku getting his rubber gloved hands on every men’s title in the company.
Jessica Kidd vs.
Nekomusume
Fight for 4
After
losing to the unranked Jessica Kidd at AWL 307, Nekomusume has been removed
from the AWL Best 4 and must now fight her way back in. Jessica Kidd, on the other hand, beat a
ranked wrestler. That’s usually
enough to earn a spot in the Best 4 outright, but Lady Smooth also lost the
Iron Woman Match at the Supercard (a match which earned Akira Merune the #3
position by the way). So, at AWL 310,
both women will have a chance to earn their way into the title picture.
Tiger Brothers (0)
vs. Danger 13 (1)
Points in Play
As one
team of tigers falls, the next generation rises to take their place. The first obstacle in their path, a team
forged out of desperation and self-preservation.
Satoshi Tobu vs.
Hasaiki
The
newest member of the AWL Roster makes his long…err…several days awaited return
to the AWL Dojo. Satoshi Tobu makes his
regular season debut against a man without a faction desperately searching for
a path to glory. Speaking of Satoshi
Tobu, I had hoped to sit down with him for an interview, but unfortunately that
has been pushed back until next week.
The Augments vs.
Sekai-gun
Trios Match
The Augments now control 3
championships. JigokuDESTROY is both AWL Grand Champion AND the New Year’s Tournament Champion. Even worse, as of last week, The Augments are AWL World’s Tag Team Champions. This week, this newly minted Golden Trio will step into the ring. Their opposition? The teammates of the last remaining male human champion in the AWL: Hassan’s friends in the World Army…Sekai-gun!

Fight for...ever
At AWL
305, the top two members of the AWL Best 4 took their shot at the AWL Grand
Championship. That means a couple of
things. First, there are now two empty
slots in the Best 4. Second, we need a
new #1 Contender. With all this in mind,
the AWL Commissioner has put together the following matches:
AWL 306
MAIN EVENT
ResuRED vs. Tiger
Mask II
AWL Grand
Championship #1 Contender’s Match.
Wyvern vs.
Erupcion Solar
Fight for 4
Matt Classic Sr.
vs. Lee Masters vs. Sammy Nix
Fight for 3
A note
of explanation on that last match. Matt,
Lee, and Sammy are all bunched up together in the AWL Win-Loss Records and,
with the chance to jump straight to the #3 slot, the AWL Commissioner feels
that it’s only fair that you should have to beat 2 opponents rather than 1.
All
these matches will take place this weekend so stay tuned to this blog and our
YouTube channel for more from the Animated Wrestling League!

Size vs. Skill
One more match has been added to AWL 283 for this
weekend. A match with championship
implications:
Lee Masters vs.
Big Jerry
Fight for 4

Championship Match and Full Card Announced for AWL 275
More of
a confirmation than an announcement really.
At the Golden War, Matt Classic Sr. won an 8-man over the top rope
battle royal to become the next challenger to the AWL Intercontinental
Champion. Since Erupcion Solar would
defeat his former tag team partner that very same night, this match was
inevitable:
AWL 275:
MAIN EVENT
Erupcion Solar (C) vs. Matt Classic Sr.
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
4th Title Defense
Men’s and Women’s Scramble Matches
Fight(s) for 4
I
talked about both of these matches in yesterday’s blog post. Please scroll down to see that post. The winners will join both of their fellow
Best 4 members at AWL 276 to fight for the right to challenge for the AWL Grand
Championship at the Season 14 Finale.
The Roc vs. THUGLIFE Tanaka Kenichi
At
Golden War 2019, the biggest WTF disconnect between entrance attire and ring
attire in the history of professional wrestling as The Roc won his Graduation
Match and won an AWL Main Roster Contract.
This weekend, he will make his regular season debut against someone I
think we ALL want to see get their ass kicked, am I right?
Monster Union (0) vs. The Flying Yukis (0)
2 Point/20 Minute Match
Points in Play
Speaking
of debuts, King Akira joined Monster Union at the Golden War. But they were unable to solve the puzzle of
The Flying Yukis. This weekend the
monsters will face Hiroyuki Shota and the
thankfully no longer bleeding all over the locker room FLASH Nobuyuki
with two points on the line and hopefully enough time to settle things between
these absurdly different teams.

Let's find some challengers!
With
both the AWL Grand and Joshi Championships successfully defended at the Golden
War, it’s time to find new challengers.
The first step in that process is to fill in the gaps in the AWL Best 4. As of this writing, the AWL Best 4 are:
Grand Championship:
1. H-03
2. Project Tetsu
3. ResuRED
4. TBD
Joshi Division:
1. ResuPINK
2. Dragoness
3. Jackie M.
4. TBD
The AWL
Commissioner has announced that this weekend’s AWL 275 event will feature two
6-way Scramble Matches with the winners joining their division’s Best 4. Then, the following week, we will have two
reshuffle matches to determine who will challenge for the AWL Grand and Joshi
Championships at the Season 14 Finale!
The
participants in those Scramble Matches have been determined by the AWL Win-Loss
Records. They are:
Men:
Hassan, Sammy Nix, Lee Masters, Azteckaizer NEO, Chiba
Akagi, and WYVERN! That’s right, the
original young dragon is back! His
win-loss record both before and during his time with the Dorei Corps more than
qualify him for this championship opportunity.
Women:
Yin, Yang, Nekomusume, Wild Thing, Koroshi Machine,
ResuYELLOW. Yes, two tag teams will
compete in this match. Yin & Yang
and The Unholy Alliance will have to decide amongst themselves if they wish to
team up, or if it’s every woman for herself.
But in the end there can only be one winner.
