Can
you feel it? That's the big fight atmoshpere that's building around
the Animated Wrestling League. As we learned this past weekend,
there will be not one but TWO championship matches at AWL 88! Ganba
will defend his AWL World Heavyweight Championship for the first time
against his biggest and longest rival: Wonder Kid. Later this week,
we'll have comments from both champion and challenger, but for now
I'll sum it up by saying that after the debacle that was HAKAISHA
losing both the title and his job, Wonder Kid is the last piece
Yarina has on the board. The last chance she has to regain control
of the AWL World Heavyweight Championship. On the other side of the
ring, Ganba is hoping to prove that he still has what it takes to be
champion. This may be his unprecedented FOURTH reign as champion,
but he has never held the title for very long. If he can't make it
past his oldest enemy, it would forever label him as a fluke
champion.
Also,
the AWL World Tag Team Championship will be defended for only the
second time this season. Following this past Sunday's match between
The Technicos and Dragon & James, the technical wrestlers will
challange the always entertaining Big & Spicy for their AWL World
Tag Team Championships. While there are not personal grudges between
these two teams, there could be no greater contrast of styles. It
should be interesting to say the least.
Rounding
out the undercard will be two singles matches and a tag team match
with points on the line. But I'll get to all that tomorrow.
