Hello Internet!
AWL
Commentator, web master, and general Do-most-of-the-work-guy RyuSensei here
with breaking news regarding the AWL including news on Season 4 and how we are
going to fill ti…er…provide bonus content during the rest of the off
season. There’s a lot of news to get to
so let’s go by the numbers:
1. You did it! Yes you, the AWL fans, have out done
yourselves once again. As of this writing,
we have once AGAIN surpassed our previous monthly record number of page views
here at AWLWrestling.blogspot.com. The
new record stands at 470 views in June and the month is barely half over! I know I say it every time, but thank you so
much for all your support!
2. Beginning tomorrow there will be daily posts containing profiles of all
your favorite AWL wrestlers! These
profiles will include stats and figures plus a brief history of that wrestler’s
time in the AWL. This will continue
until we run out of wrestlers.
3. Lastly, I have breaking news to report
for our Season 4 premier, AWL 61. The
AWL Commissioner has booked 3 matches for this show that he has given me
permission to announce to you right here, right now! They are:
Ma-Ji-Ku © vs. Libre—AWL Light
Heavyweight Championship Match!
Tag team
partners will face off in a match for what has become the most sought after
title in the AWL. After besting his
brother Jose in the Best of 7 Series that concluded at AWL 60 in the Mask vs.
Mask match, Libre has more than earned a shot at the title. Will Ma-Ji-Ku be able to give his all against
his partner and friend? Will the champ
be intimidated now that he knows Libre is the son of a bone fide Mexican legend
like El Santo?
Best 4 Battle Royal: Ben Nelson, Wolf,
Hassan, Matt Classic
The
AWL Best 4 rankings were turned upside down after the 6-man cage match in the
latter part of last season. This is the
AWL Commissioner’s way of restoring order.
A 4-man Battle Royal where the first man eliminated will take the number
4 slot, the second man number 3, and so on.
The winner of this match will face Wonder Kid in a 10 Minute Challenge
at AWL 62.
And I’ve saved the best for last:
Ganba vs. Bubba Reese—Last man standing,
loser leaves town!
A
long blood feud that began in a parking lot before AWL 21, that continued in
the first ever AWL Hell in the Cell match at AWL 40, and that was reignited by
Bubba Reese joining the N.R.E., will finally come to a head at AWL 61.
Over
the course of Season 3, Ganba earned himself a match of his choice with Bubba
Reese by defeating every other member of the N.R.E. in single combat. That match, which was supposed to happen at
AWL 60, was postponed due to Ganba challenging for the AWL World Heavyweight
Championship.
From
his chosen stipulations, Ganba has shown that he is serious about whipping the
stain of Bubba Reese from the AWL forever.
For those of you who may not be aware, a Last Man Standing Match means
there are no rules. The combatants fight
until one of them fails to answer a referee’s 10 count. The “loser leaves town” stipulation is
exactly what it sounds like. The loser
of this match must leave the AWL . . . forever.
It’s
Ganba vs. Reese for the final time at AWL 61.
This match will be the main event of the show.
The exact date for AWL 61 has yet to be
set. When it is, you’ll read about it
right here on AWLWrestling.blogspot.com.
