Ding Dong this Song is Copyrighted!

Hazzah!!  After the events of AWL 107, it's a brand new day in the Animated Wrestling League.  Yarina is GONE and all that's left are a few wrestlers without contracts.  Now the AWL Commissioner would be well within his rights to just ban all the former members of YTM Inc. from the AWL and have done.  But that's not the way things work here.  In the AWL you EARN what you get and you EARN what you lose.

That's why, at AWL 108, Super Giant, Jack Butcher, and Kuroyama will compete in Batsu Matches.  If they win, they earn AWL contracts.  If they lose, they're done in the AWL for life.

As for the fired member of YTM Inc. Wonder Kid, in deference to his years of success in the AWL (not to mention the fact that he wasn't actually working for Yarina when she was removed from the AWL), has already been offered a new (less expensive) contract with the AWL and he has signed.

AWL 107: Kuroyama vs. Wolf

AWL 107: Kuroyama vs Wolf by AWLBoss

I didn't think it would happen, but things are mostly back up and running in the AWL, at least for the moment.  I don't have time to explain now, but until I can.  Enjoy the show!

Still don't know if this is getting through to you.

Big technical trouble here.

I have my suspicions but nothing solid.

Will try to post awl 107 soon.

Main event kuroyama vs wolf.

You know what that means.

Follow the money.

Something's going on.

Don't know if this is going to work.

Someone or something is trying to make sure this week's awl episode doesn't air. At the moment it's working.

Wish us luck.

News update 9/23/14

It's official, Wonder Kid is no longer affiliated with Yarina Talent Management Inc.  As you all saw at AWL 106, Yarina (who doesn't seem to be quite in her right mind these days) fired her longest serving client Wonder Kid.  These two have been a team since Season 2 with Yarina making her first ever appearance for the AWL in episode 21!  To see such a long running relationship end because of a single act of defiance is more than a little disturbing.

Speaking of disturbing.....The DOOMBUNNY! is once again the #1 Contender to the AWL World Light Heavyweight Title.  A.J. Styles managed to retain the belt against Super Giant this past weekend.  So that score will be settled sometime in the near future.

Lastly for today, we have learned that Big & Spicy will face The Masters of the Mask at AWL Mid-Week Wrestling this week.  After wrestling to a 10 minute draw last week, this time the match will be contested under a 15 minute time limit with 2 points on the line!

See you tomorrow for Mid-Week Wrestling, and stay tuned all week for all the news and goings on in the Animated Wrestling League.

AWL 106: A.J. Styles vs. Super Giant

AWL 106 by AWLBoss

Sorry for the slight delay.  The computer has been acting up and Dailymotion decided to play games with me.  But it's still the weekend and it's still time for The Animated Wrestling League!

AWL 106 Preview

This week we will all feel the fallout from what we're now calling The Canadian Miracle, the defeat of Wonder Kid by the much smaller, much less experienced, Kid Canada!

In a message that was received earlier this week (though not posted to this site in orders of the AWL Commissioner), Yarina has officially requested a match on this week's show.  Wonder Kid will be placed in a 2 on 1 handicap match.  Yarina calls this a "Punishment Match" for Wonder Kid's failure last week.  Now of course, the AWL Commissioner is not under any obligation to book this match.  But apparently the idea of watching his enemies beat the stuffing out of each other amuses the man I work for (should that worry me?) and the match is on!

In the main event, the AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship will be decided as A.J. Styles makes his second title defense against Super Giant.  The Commissioner's ultimatum to Yarina is still in effect so Super Giant (as the only light heavyweight in YTM inc.) has a lot of extra pressure on him to win this match.

Also, there will be a rubber match between El Santo Azul and Tiger Mask II.  They each hold a victory over the other and this is the final encounter.  By special order of the AWL Commissioner, this match will have a 15 minute time limit and will be a 2 out of 3 falls match!

Lastly, in the next AWL Championship Tournament Round of 16 Match, THUGLIFE 田仲健一 will be tied up in knots by "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush.

It all takes place in less than 24 hours on AWLWrestling.blogspot.com

AWL 105 Preview

After a week of complete chaos here at AWL Headquarters we finally have a card for tomorrow's AWL 105.

First and foremost on everyone's mind is the 104 Screwjob.  The sudden appearance of Bad Luck Fale throwing a steel chair to A.J. Styles while the ref's back was turned resulting in a tainted but successful title defense.

Obviously, there will be consequences.  The first consequence, as previously reported, is that Bad Luck Fale has been offered an AWL contract and he has signed.  The second consequence will be tomorrow as A.J. Styles & Bad Luck Fale (The Bullet Club) will be in tag team action against the DOOM BUNNY! and . . . . . HAKAISHA!!

But that's not the main event.  No matter what else is going on in the AWL, the championships always take priority.  In the main event, the All Americans will cash in their 3 Points and challenge the AWL All Stars for the AWL World Tag Team Championship.  Additionally, Wonder Kid will fight Kid Canada in the next Round of 16 Match of the AWL Championship Tournament.  Yarina has only 2 wrestlers in the tournament and the AWL Commissioner's ultimatum is still in effect.

Now, the full card for AWL 105:

Main Event
AWL World Tag Team Championship Match
AWL All Stars (C) vs. The All Americans

AWL Championship Tournament
Round of 16 Match
Wonder Kid vs. Kid Canada

Bullet Club vs. DOOMBUNNY! & HAKAISHA!

Rematch from AWL 104
Tiger Mask II vs. El Santo Azul

"Big" Ben Nelson vs. THUGLIFE 田仲健一

The 104 Screwjob!

I'm pretty sure I've seen the AWL Commissioner angrier than this.....I just can't remember when.  You all saw the bull***t that happened at AWL 104 (And if you haven't, go watch it.  Otherwise this will make no sense to you).  There has been nothing but a constant torrent of yelling, cursing, and indistinguishable grunting coming from the boss's office since Monday.

However, I (or rather the expendable intern I sent in my place) was able to get some information out of the Commissioner in between ranting sessions.

1. The referee's decision is final!  Not even the AWL Commissioner can overturn a referee's decision.

2. Since a new #1 Contender to the AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship was determined at AWL 104, that individual will still get their title shot.  However, the DOOMBUNNY is now officially the #2 Contender to the title.

3. If A.J. Styles' little friend wants to be in the AWL so badly, fine!  He's hired!!  But he will be expected to follow the same contractual obligations as all other AWL Wrestlers.  You fight where, when, and WHO the Commissioner tells you to.

I know it's not much, but this is what the intern was able to deliver back to me before he succumbed to his injuries.  He will receive an A- on his class credit for his internship.

Programing reminder: There will be no Mid Week Wrestling show this week.  Everybody at the office is too busy trying to deal with the fall out from AWL 104 to try and get another show on the air this week.

I'll be back in a day or two with the card for AWL 105 and hopefully some more details on how we are going to make this right.

AWL 104 Preview

With the 2014 Tag Matsuri behind us, it's time to refocus on the singles division including the one and only active singles championship we have right now.  I refer, of course, to the AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship.  At AWL 100, the DOOMBUNNY! out lasted 5 other men in a battle royal to earn a future title shot.  Well the future is now and hyper energetic bunny man will challenge reigning champion A.J. Styles for the gold tomorrow at AWL 104.

But that's not all, after last week's shocking upset in the AWL Championship Tournament, "Peacemaker" Luke James faces HAKAISHA! in the second Round of 16 match.  I'd call this a mismatch, but after last week I am finished making predictions in this tournament.

Here now, the full card for AWL 104:

Main Event:
AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship Match
A.J. Styles (C) vs. The DOOMBUNNY!
The top indie wrestling talent in the world today versus a pink bunny man.  Nuff said!

AWL Championship Tournament Round of 16
"Peacemaker" Luke James vs. HAKAISHA!
The modern day outlaw takes on the Japanese Destroyer.  The winner takes an all important step toward AWL 120 and the AWL World Heavyweight Championship.

4-Man Light Heavyweight #1 Contender's Match
No matter who wins the main event, we're going to need a new #1 contender to the AWL World Light Heavyweight Title.  This match is how we're going to make one.  Do you want to know who's in the match?  Well tough, watch the show!

The New Classics (0) vs. Danger Riders (1)
After picking up their first point (ever) last week in the Tag Team Gauntlet Match, the Danger Riders look to take the next step toward title contention but standing in their way are the multi-time AWL World Tag Team Champions, the New Classics.  What?  You thought that after a tag team specific show we *weren't* going to have a tag match on this show?  Silly you.

El Santo Azul vs. Tiger Mask II
I don't know what the AWL Commissioner is thinking with this one.  On the surface, this looks like just another light heavyweight division match.  But think back to AWL 100.  It was El Santo Azul who pinned Tiger Mask I to save himself and eliminate Tiger Mask II's mentor from the AWL for good.  I don't know what's going through El Santo Azul's mind, but if I were Tiger Mask II, I'd be pretty ticked off right now.

It all happens at AWL 104: A.J. Styles vs. DOOMBUNNY!  Be there tomorrow!!

Saturday, September 6, 2014

Due to unexpected delays involving my real life job, AWL 104 is postponed until Monday, September 8th Japan time (Sometime Sunday afternoon US time).  The official preview will be posted tomorrow.

Tag Matsuri Fallout

First and foremost: We have NEW Tag Team Champions!  Dragon and Ganba bested Crisis Gundan this past weekend to win the gold.  This leaves Yarina without a single title to her name.  And you all know the AWL Commissioner's ultimatum, if she doesn't control all 3 title by the end of the season.....she's out!

In other news, Dragon & Ganba have chosen a tag team name: The AWL All Stars.

I'll get to the preview for Mid-Week Wrestling in a moment, but let's take a look at the standings in the Tag Team Division:

AWL All Stars: CHAMPIONS
The All Americans: 3 points.
Danger Riders: 1 point.
Masters of the Mask: 1 point.
A.J. Styles & Ma-Ji-Ku: 1 point.
Dragon & James: 1 point.*
All other teams: 0 points.

*With Dragon currently 1/2 of the AWL World Tag Team Champions, Dragon & James are considered an "On the shelf" tag team.

Now for the official preview of tomorrow's AWL Mid-Week Wrestling:

AWL All Stars (C) vs. The Masters of the Mask (1)
Non-Title Match
Yes, the new AWL World Tag Team Champions will be in rare non-title action this week.  Not only will points be on the line for the two luchadors, but you the AWL fans will get to see, for the first time anywhere, the AWL All Star's new tag team entrance!!

AWL Mid-Week Wrestling 103.5 will be posted in less that 24 hours.
