AWL 70: Luke James vs. Wonder Kid

One of the most newsworthy episodes of all time.  If you're an AWL fan and you haven't seen this video you are missing out!

AWL 70 update and a strange message.

OK folks we are mere days away from AWL 70 and after the events of last weekend’s episode, we now know that all 3 AWL Championships will be defended at AWL 70.  What’s more, we have some breaking news regarding all three of these contests.  The match ups are:

1. Wonder Kid © vs. “Peacemaker” Luke James

              AWL World Heavyweight Championship Match

              With Wonder Kid’s manager Yarina becoming increasingly involved in her client’s matches as of late, Luke James has asked his friend and mentor Dragon to join him at ringside and act as corner man/equalizer.

2. Ma-Ji-Ku © vs. El Rudo Rojo

              AWL Light Heavyweight Championship Match

              By order of the AWL Commissioner, all of El Rudo Rojo’s fellow members of the N.R.E. are barred from ringside on pain of termination.

3. Crisis Gundan © vs. The Super Tiger Brothers

              AWL World Tag Team Championship Match

              Yarina has requested that this match be the first bout on the card.  In Yarina’s own words “Those two pussycats don’t deserve anything better than the curtain jerker spot.”  For reasons that honestly escape me, the AWL Commissioner has agreed to this.

In other news, a rather unusual e-mail was received by AWL HQ late last night.  The sender line says that the message is from Black Tiger King, but I don’t think that it is.  Mainly because the letter is in perfect English and BTK has always needed a Japanese-English translator in the past.  Either way, the content is . . . interesting so we have decided to post it in full here in the blog.

              With the passing of the equinox and the falling of a once great empire, the time is finally at hand for the truth to be revealed to the wondering masses.  At the seventieth episode of the Animated Wrestling League, the scales shall fall and all will know that the prophecy will soon be fulfilled.  A secret long kept hidden beneath the veil of shadow (though perfectly obvious to those few with wit enough to see) will be exposed to a light so bright even the most simple minded of sheep may yet see the truth.

              Yeah, I have no idea what it means either.  Hopefully we will all find out at AWL 70.

AWL 69: Apparently I'm adult content now??!!??!!!

OK, something weird happened this week.  Apparently Dailymotion slapped an adult content warning on my video.  I have no clue why.  There's no pornographic content, no serious swearing (I refer to Yarina as a b*tch one time), and nothing more violent than the usual (Sorry if that's a disappointment).  Perhaps the fact that I used the word "sex" on the opening graphic and the use of the number 69 in the title have something to do with it.  If you have any problems accessing the video, let me know in the comments and I'll see if I can do anything about it.

Some technical difficulties caused this episode to be delayed by a few hours, but it's still the weekend and that means it's time for some animated wrestling action!

BREAKING NEWS: New match added to AWL 68!

This just in.  With literally hours to go until AWL 68 goes on the air, the AWL Commissioner has announced  a new match for the show:

"Big" Ben Nelson vs. Eddie Kingston: Hardcore Match!!
Stemming directly from Kingstons vicious attack on Ben Nelson last week, these two brawlers will face each other for the third time but this time it will be under hardcore rules.  Or should I say, no rules.

According to my sources, the AWL Commissioner did not want to book this match, preferring instead to fine and/or suspend Kingston.  However, Ben Nelson called AWL HQ personally and demanded this change at revenge, even going so far as to threaten to quit if he didn't get his way.  The AWL Commissioner was not happy at being strong armed in this way, but the chance to get a knockdown drag out brawl on his show was too good to resist.  Before hanging up, Nelson gave the secretary a message to give to Eddie Kingston:

See ya in Valhalla ya tosser!

Full Card for AWL 68:

Ma-Ji-Ku (C) vs. Curry Man--AWL Light Heavyweight Championship Match
Let's start with the important stuff.  This weekend, the AWL Light Heavyweight Championship is on the line as the longest title reign in the history of the AWL is once again in jeopardy.  Ma-Ji-Ku, who won the title on November 17th 2011 and has held it for 1 year and nearly 10 months must prove himself again, this time against the King of Spice, Curry Man.

But Curry Man, in a bout of great courage or great stupidity (My guess is the latter) will be pulling double duty this Sunday (JST):

Big & Spicy (0) vs. The N.R.E. (0)
Points will be in play in this two on two tag team match.  After everything that happened between Tiny, Yarina, and Curry Man, Big & Spicy are anxiously looking for the three points needed to challenge for the AWL World Tag Team Championship.  Both of these teams currently have zero point so it's all to play for this weekend.

Wonder Kid vs. Hassan--10 Minute Challenge
Yarina's great scam continues as #1 contender Hassan has to go through another of these ridiculous farces in order to "earn" that which is rightfully his, a title match against Wonder Kid for the AWL World Title.  I have no earthly clue why the AWL Commissioner allows this nonsense to continue, but until he comes to his senses and realizes that Yarina is gaming the system just to pad both the length of WK's title reign, but her own pockets with the "Appearance Fees" (extortion if you ask me) that Yarina charges to have her clients appear on our shows, the rest of use just have to put up with this BS.

The Colony (0) vs. The Technicos (0)
A dream match for fans of tag team wrestling as the best of the AWL faces the best of Chikara.  The Technicos are multi-time AWL World Tag Team Champions, but how will they match up against a team with a laundry list of accolades like The Colony (Campeonatos de Parejas, Kings of Trios, Tag World Grand Prix Champions, the list goes on).  If you like technical, scientific, or tag team wrestling, this is a match you absolutely CAN NOT MISS!!

That's all the news for today, but there's one more matter I wish to bring before the AWL fans.  I've been thinking of ways to expand what I do on this blog in the hopes of attracting more views.  I would like your opinions on the following proposal:

Well, it's that time again.  Time for me to convince you to watch this weekends AWL World Heavyweight Title Match.  Of course, the fact that the most prestigious championship in all of digital wrestling is on the line would normally be enough for anyone, but this week we have an extra special incentive and it's this week's video news update:

But that's just the main event.  The AWL Commissioner, in his infinite wisdom, has put together a fascinating match:

Trios Match:
Tiger Mask, Shin Tora, & Ben Nelson vs. Bruce Hoyt, El Rudo Rojo, & ????

This match was originally meant to be a regular tag team match between the Super Tiger Brothers and the N.R.E.  Until, that is, the following message was delivered to AWL HQ (Here corrected for spelling and grammar):

Our cause is spreading.  A brand new heel is ready to step all the way out of the closet and embrace the reality that winning is all that matters.  The ends always justify the means.  So stuff your tag team match this weekend.  Find a partner for the two little pussies and we'll show you what the bad guys can do!
We're here.  You don't cheer.  GET USED TO IT!!

The Commissioner didn't take kindly to that so while he accepted the match, he paired the tigers with the only man to earn two victories over Chikara Grand Champion Eddie Kingston in the last 2 years: "Big" Ben Nelson!

Points in play:
The Colony (1) vs. The All Americans (0)

We DO have some traditional tag team action this week and the new 3-Point System borrowed from Chikara is heating up.  The Super Tiger Brothers have 3 points and are first in line for a tag team title shot.  This weekend, the ants try for their second point and the Americans attempt to get on the board.  Remember that one loss drops you down to nothing so there's a lot at stake for both teams this weekend at AWL 67.

Revenge of the Purple and Black:
Tiny vs. Jack "Breakdown" Butcher

The suspension is over and Tiny is BACK!  The first words out of his mouth when he stepped back into AWL HQ were "I want Crisis Gundan!"  The Commissioner, not feeling that a non-title tag match would be appropriate in this case, has booked a one on one match between the returning Tiny and the undefeated Jack Butcher.  To make things fair, both men will have their tag team partners banned from ringside . . . but for some reason Yarina will still be there.  When asked for clarification, the AWL Commissioner's office declined to comment.

What the Colony has been up to when not fighting in the AWL.

Some interesting footage has surfaced recently showing Colony members Fire Ant and Green Ant on a mission back in the United States.  On a quest to find a comrade in arms, a soul long thought lost rises again.

Well, that raises more questions than it answers.  Will Green Ant accept this gift and take up the mantle?  Where is Soldier Ant?  He hasn't been seen since he quit Chikara after being forced by Titor Conglomerate operative Wink Vavasseur to lead the perversion of the Colony known as C.X.F. (Colony eXtreme Force).  Where has Soldier Ant been and what secrets might he hold?

There is still fight left in the Chikarmy, they just need someone to lead them home.

Until then, the AWL WILL be a home for the warriors of Chikara to ply their craft.  Kingston and the Colony are only the beginning.
