Why no, I don't speak a word of Spanish, why do you ask?

As always, Captain AWL has refused to offer any comment on his title match tomorrow. Luckily we were able to reach Ma-Ji-Ku and get some words from him.

And now, in English:
My career will be defined by the AWL World's Light Heavyweight Championship. "Longest Reigning Light Heavyweight Champion" will probably be on my tombstone. And now this child who has probably spent less time in the ring than I have in the shower is going to be the last champion? I don't think so! AWL 160 is about history. Honoring history and making history. Tomorrow I will prove that I am the best at what I do and I will be bringing the AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship Belt home with me...Forever.

Many thanks to the AWL Translation Team for that.

And now (because they threatened to beat me up if I didn't post it) some comments from Bullet Club:

Who the hell do "The New Classics" think they are? A bunch of losers that can't even win with their own referee! Who brings in a special ref if he ain't gonna cheat for ya? Dumbasses. A kid who's too ugly to show his face. A one trick pony pretending to be some kinda "expert." And an idiot who doesn't even know what sport he's playing. Reeeeeeal dream team there!!

And now the oooooohhh so mysteeeeerious Commissioner decides that these fools are the great heroes that are going to save the AWL from Bullet Club? HA! If that's the best this supid little fed can cough up, they you people ain't NEVER gettin rid of us! We are Bullet Club and WE'RE! TAKING! OVER!!!

Commissioner's Weekly Address

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I am the AWL Commissioner.

I have been promoting professional wrestling for 15 years and sometimes I feel like I have seen everything there is to see. It is not often in this business that I find myself truly surprised. Such an emotion has truly been my experience in the last few weeks as Captain AWL has risen to the exalted status of Champion of the Light Heavyweight Division. While I still do not understand his hatred of El Rudo Rojo, he has exceeded my expectations of him. I am impressed.

HOWEVER! AWL 160 is just around the courner and I can not allow an untested and unproven rookie to represent the Animated Wrestling League in the Title Unification Match. Therefore I have COMMISSIONED the final two challengers for the title to be of the highest quality. First, this weekend, Captain AWL shall face the best of the Light Heavyweight Division:
For AWL 156
Captain AWL (C) vs. Ma-Ji-Ku
AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship Match
1st Title Defense.

Furthermore, eight of the AWL's best light heavyweight wrestlers will compete in singles matches this week and next week the winners of those bouts will meet in a 4-way match to determine the final challenger before the season finale.

THIS! I have COMMISSIONED!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Joint Statement

This has never happened before in the history of the AWL. Two opponents in a world title match have issued a joint statement for the wrestling press less than 24 hours before their match:

For over a week now people have been speculating that when we face each other at AWL 155, we are going to "implode" or that one of us will "swerve" the other and that this will turn into some big dramatic B.S.

Well, we hate to disappoint you. That is simply not going to happen. Yes, tomorrow two best friends are going to step into a 20 by 20 foot wrestling ring and we are going to have a wrestling match. One of us is going to walk out of The AWL Arena as AWL World's Heavyweight Champion.

And that's AWESOME! Why on earth would either one of us want to ruin the chance to main event an AWL card and become the heavyweight champion of the world? We want to see which of us is the best wrestler and we'll never find that out unless we both go at it full force in the ring. Fair and square, no B.S., no "turns," no "screw jobs."

We owe that to each other as friends. We owe that to the AWL fans as paying customers. We owe it to the AWL World's Heavyweight Championship itself! That prize that every single man in this locker room wakes up fighting for and falls asleep dreaming about.

Tomorrow at AWL 155, you are going to see a great wrestling match. Enjoy it.

Full Card for AWL 155

OK people, the full card has been announced for AWL 155. It's mostly matches that we already knew about (isn't logical booking wonderful?) but there are one or two surprises.
AWL 155:
MAIN EVENT:
Dragon (C) vs Luke James (#1)
AWL World Heavyweight Championship Match

Bullet Club vs. The New Classics
Trios Match
Match ordered by the AWL Commissioner

Big" Ben Nelson (#2) vs. RAINMAKER Okada Kazuchika (#3)
Non-Title Match
Rank on the Line
Winner earns the next World Heavyweight Title Shot

HAKAISHA! & DOOMBUNNY (0) vs. Los Neko Grande (0)
2 Point/15 Minute Match

Big & Spicy (1) vs. The Muscle Hunters (0)
2 Point/15 Minute Match

El Santo Azul & E.N. Hance vs. El Rudo Rojo & Jon Shina
Danger Zone Match

I promised surprises, didn't I? The IWGP Heavyweight Champion will be in action this weekend. The brothers and former tag team partners Azul and Rojo will be across the ring from each other but this time they will each have to team with a wrestler who has NEVER won a sacntioned match in their careers. It should be...Interesting.

Karma is a *****!

This just in from the AWL Commissioner's office. Last Sunday, Chiba Akagi was attacked by Bullet Club after his match. He has sustained two cracked ribs and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Obviously, there will be consequences. First, Bullet Club has been fined 100,000each. Second, they will not be paid for this weekend (and if they decide to no show again, the AWL will sue them for breach of contract) Lastly, since The New Classics stepped up last weekend, they will be given the chance to do so in an official capacity:
For AWL 155:
Bullet Club vs. The New Classics
Trios Match

The AWL Commissioner has elected to not put out an official address this week. But I will be back tomorrow with the full card for AWL 155!

Danger Zone Update

The following are the current standings for the Batsumania Danger Zone:

Wrestler
           Win
          Loss
         Total

Jon Shina
0
-13
-13
E.N. Hance
0
-11
-11
El Rudo Rojo
28
-37
-9
El Santo Azul
37
-46
-9

Additionally, both DOOMBUNNY and "The Peacemaker" Luke James have been bouncing in and out of the Danger Zone over the past couple of weeks. It is important to note, with 5 victories needed to elevate the last place wrestler out of the zone, nobody is mathematically locked yet. But given the histories of Jon Shina and E.N. Hance.....let's just say that nobody is offering good odds for those two NOT being in Batsumania.

Match announced for AWL 160!

Following Sunday's tie breaker in the Faction Gauntlet, WWE Intercontinental Champion Hassan has given the AWL Commissioner his choice for the stipulation at AWL 160. Therefore the following match has been made official:
For AWL 160:
American Beetle vs. Hassan vs. Yamada Jiro
Title Recognition Match
Elimination Rules
2 out of 3 Falls

When asked why he chose 2 out of 3 falls, Hassan told me that in the past that's how champions were determined so he wants the newest AWL championship to be decided the same way. Remember, if Hassan wins, his Intercontinental Title will be officially recognized by the Animated Wrestling League. If Yamada Jiro wins, it will be the Zenkoku Championship. If American Beetle wins, he will choose which belt it will be.

More matches for our season finale will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Commissioner's Weekly Address

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I am the AWL Commissioner.

They say that the best laid plans of mice and men are bound to be misquoted. And in my case, the best booked series of matches are bound to end in a tie. And that is exactly what has happened in the Faction Gauntlet between Hassan and Yamada Jiro. Sometimes this job is difficult...and other times it's dead simple:
For AWL 154:
Yamada Jiro vs. Hassan
Faction Gauntlet Tie Breaker
Winner sets the stipulations for the Recognition Match at AWL 160

Additionally, the Tag Matsuri on Monday added some much need momentum to the AWL Tag Team Division. So, to maintain this forward trajectory, I have COMMISSIONED!! Two tag team matches for this weekend:
Big & Spicy (1) vs. The Muscle Hunters (0)
Tag Matsuri Rematch
Points in Play

HAKAISHA! & DOOMBUNNY (0) vs. Los Neko Grande (0)
Points in Play

Finally, I have found myself to be rather...perplexed by the current state of affairs. I am refering to the current number one contender to the AWL World's Heavyweight Championship, Luke James. It is troubling that the next challenger for the world title ALSO be in the Danger Zone. Therefore, the following match will happen at AWL 154 and you may be confident that Mr. James' rank is most certainly at risk.
Luke James (#1) vs. El Santo Azul
Danger Zone Match

THIS! I have COMMISSIONED!!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Update at the end of a LONG week!

News update from around the wrestling world:

First, last Monday at King of Pro Wrestling in Ryogoku, the Rain Maker Kazuchika Okada retained the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against A.J. Styles in a 30 plus minute classic of a wrestling match. I highly recommend you all go out of your way to see it. Okada is currently scheduled to challenge the AWL World's Heavyweight Champion (whomever that may be) at AWL 159. Could the Rain Maker walk into AWL 160 and become the first AWL Grand Champion? Not if Dragon has anything to say about it.

Also at King of Pro Wrestling, "The Cleaner" Kenny Omega retained the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Matt Sydal. While by no means a "clean" victory, I have been informed that Omega intends to bring his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight belt to all future AWL booking. And he will get the chance THIS WEEKEND as he faces Chiba Akagi in a non-title match.

Speaking of this weekend and AWL 154, the AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship will of course be defended. The interesting part is that, despite Grudge Matches not officially being counted on the win-loss records, the AWL Commissioner has decided that Captain AWL's decisive victory over El Rudo Rojo in the Grudge Match last week has qualified the mysterious captain for a title match.

Finally tonight, Cody Hall and Kenny Omega have been fined the equivilent of 4 months pay for failing to appear at Tag Matsuri 2015. They have been stripped of their 3 points. And they are barred from tag team competition for the remainder of the season. They may tag with other members of Bullet Club, but NOT with each other. Frankly, the importance of the relationship between the AWL and New Japan Pro Wrestling is the ONLY reason they haven't been out and out suspended.

Stay tuned later today for the AWL Commissioner's weekly address.

Champion and Challenger Speak

Dragon:
I remember when I was first contacted by the man you all know as the AWL Commissioner. He was looking to start a wrestling company and I was a hot young indy talent that he thought he could build around. I was entered into a tournament to crown the first AWL Champion. We were just a bunch of rookies that nobody had ever heard of. Mr. Showtime, Dan Dynamo, Yin, Yang, The Governator, Diamond Back, and some guy dressed up as a mentally deranged clown. Fighting for no money, no fame, in front of a few dozen people if we were lucky. I remember what the Commissioner said one day when we were all feeling it was hopeless: Just focus on one match tonight. Everything else will come.

One match. One match is all that matters. In this job, in this sport. You can only ever count on one match. That match is tonight. Every time we step into the squared circle we take out health, our futures, and out lives into our hands. Any move. Any attack. Any mistake could be our last. I've been in this business for more than 15 years. I don't know how long I have left. But all that matters is one match. I am focused on that one match for that one title. My title. It's a new name, a new belt, and a completely different opponent but all I need it...one match.

HAKAISHA!:
(Translated from Japanese)
The way of a champion is a difficult one. Not only the title matches, but the responsibility. The champion is the leader of the roster. The symbol of the promotion. The fact on all the posters. The man in the main event. It is a heavy burden.

But I wouldn't change it for anything! I didn't respect the title or the AWL when I became champion the first time. But now this task is one I carry with pride. I AM the AWL World's Heavyweight Champion! I have EARNED it! I realize that now and after all that has happened to me this year I embrace it. No one is taking this title, this duty, from me. Not even my respected senpai.

I am the Japanese Destroyer. And I do it the Right Way.

Commissioner's Weekly Address

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I am the AWL Commissioner.

This week I am as excited as I have been in a long time. Not only do we have an intreging main event for Sunday's AWL 153 event, but this Monday, Oct. 12 will be the next AWL Super Card: Tag Matsuri 2015! I shall announce the full card for that special event tomorrow, but the main event should be.....amusing.
For Tag Matsuri 2015:
MAIN EVENT
Bullet Club (C) vs. ???? (3 or 4)
AWL World Tag Team Championship Match
2nd Title Defense

The challengers shall be decided the previous evening at AWL 153:
For AWL 153:
Bullet Club (Omega/Hall) (0) vs. Los Neko Grande (1)
3 Point/20 Minute Match

I am fully aware of Bullet Club's little plan to ruin my tag team division and I have no intention of letting it happen. If Mr. Hall and Mr. Omega win their match on Sunday, they WILL cash in their points on Monday. Of course, the same shall apply to Los Neko Grande.

However, I am, under the appropriate circumstances, more than willing to grant the requests of my wrestlers. In this case it amuses me to grant the request of that disrespectful little snot El Rudo Rojo. But do not blame me if you wind up in the hospital or (heaven forfend) unable to defend your title next week.
For AWL 153:
El Rudo Rojo vs. Captain AWL
GRUDGE MATCH
Finally, and I apologize for holding such significant news until the end, but I am hereby suspending the AWL Best 4 for the remainder of the season! The current Best 4 is:

1. Dragon
2. Luke James
3. Big Ben Nelson
4. RAINMAKER Okada

And before anyone asks, I was required to add Okada to the Best 4 as an apology to New Japan Pro Wrestling over that whole A.J. Style affair.

The AWL Best 4 shall be renewed in Season 9 and shall apply to the soon to be created AWL Grand Championship. The first members of this new Best 4 shall be determined by...The New Year's Tournament!

THIS! I have COMMISSIONED!!!!!!!!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Title match set for AWL 153!

Happy middle of the week wrestling fans.

Your mostly humble web master and commentator Ryu Sensei here and I am here to confirm the HUGE main event for AWL 153. If you've been following the schedule for the last couple of weeks, you knew this was coming. But let's make it official:
For AWL 153:
MAIN EVENT
HAKAISHA! (C) vs. Dragon (#1)
AWL World's Heavyweight Championship Match
13th Title Defense.

That is going to be a huge match up. The first AWL Champion against the man who has had more successful title defenses than anyone else in the history of that title. We'll have some comments later this week from both champion and challenger.

Even more Promo Time

It's going to be quick today wrestling fans. I have comments from all six of the men who will enter the over the top rope battle royal this weekend for a light heavyweight title shot that same night. The names have just been announced and it's an interesting list that includes names you'd probably assume and some you might not expect. Here they are, along with their comments, in no particular order:

Ma-Ji-Ku (translated from Spanish): HAKAISHA! gave me one amazing fight last week. But I know I can beat him. The only chance I have now is to win back my AWL World's Light Heavyweight Title and face HAKAISHA! again in the title unification match. Lucha libre is on the rise world wide and it's only right that the King of Lucha in the AWL represent the light heavyweights at AWL 160.

Kid Canada: Yeah, I know what you're probably thinking. "He's a light heavyweight?" Well, I may be tall but I'm lean and trim. Sure a few extra Timbits and I'd be over the weight limit, but no problem eh? At AWL 152, 5 other men are going over the top rope and I'm bringing that light heavyweight title back to Calgary.....Alberta, Canada!

El Santo Azul (Translated from Spanish): I'm over it. Yeah, if...no...WHEN I win this Battle Royal I have to face my brother again. But I've been fighting him for years and I know I've got his number. Any you know what? After I win that belt, I'm going to be the Grand Champion. And then I might take that Grand Championship on a little trip. I hear Boyle Heights is nice in January.

Chiba Akagi (Translated from Japanese): I was very surprised to see my name on this list. "What have I done to earn this opportunity?" I asked myself. The only answer I can think of is that the AWL Commissioner must be watching my training at the AWL Dojo and likes what he sees. Whatever the reason, I'm not letting this chance pass me by.

Curry Man: Curry Man ICHIBAN!! Ma-Ji-Ku NIBAN. Minnasan SANBAN, SHIBAN. Curry Man ICHIBANNNNNN!!!!!!!

Dr. Jigoku (Speaking on behalf of ウサギKick): It's about time that old fool of a commissioner begin to recognize the BRILLIANCE of my Augments. This Battle Royal is less than a formality. My creation will use the gifts I have given him to kick all of his opponents over the top rope. And I will control the AWL World's Light Heavyweight Championship and by the end of the year, the AWL Grand Championship! Then all will know that We. Are. SUPERIOR!!!!!!!

Promo time!

Both news AND comments from AWL Wrestlers for you today wrestling fans. The Commissioner's office has just announced that The New Classics shall field the challengers in this week's third set of the Faction Gauntlet. I caught up with all three members of The New Classics to get their thoughts.

Sammy Nix: Great! This is exactly what we've been asking for behind the scenes all season. The chance to show that we are not "just a tag team" but that we can be taken seriously in the singles divisions of the AWL. So far, the other factions have both gone 1-2 against the "Golden Candidates" and we're gonna be the first to knock them all off the road and straight into Suplex City!

Lee Masters: Ya know, this is good. It's gonna be good. I'm gonna get in that ring and impose my will on whoever they send against me. They ain't gonna have nowhere to go. Nothing to do but lay and pray. My bro Sammy Nix, he's in the best shape of his life. The kid, Matt? Those guys have never fought anyone like him before. And me? You're gonna see nothing but the best version of me. The New Classics are here and for real man.

Matt Classic Jr.: FINALLY! I've been watching American Beetle and Hassan wrestle since I was in junior high and now I get to wrestle one of them? That'd be totes awesome! But man, I hope I don't get that douche nozzle Yamada Jiro. That'd suck. But whoever it is, step into the ring with the Next Gen and you are going DOWN bae!

6 wrestlers. 3 matches. All random. See it at AWL 152 this weekend!
