Tag Team Interviews

This week's episode of the Animated Wrestling League will feature the AWL World Tag Team Titles on the line in the main event. So, even with all the turmoil over the new AWL Grand Champion, we continue our tradition and turn this blog post over to hte champions and challengers.

Destroyers of DOOM!: (Translated from Japanese as needed)

HAKAISHA: Wyvern. Matt. You say you need these titles? You don't need titles in professional wrestling. You earn them. Doombunny and I saw Ma-Ji-Ku's call to arms. And believe me, we want to see he Augments beaten as much as anyone else. But if you think we're just going to hnd you the belts we've held for nearly 6 months, you are out of your minds!

You want these titles? You have to come and get them...the right way!

新時代:

Matt Classic Jr.: You guys just don't get it. Yeah, we need the belts. But we don't want you to just hand them to us. Hell no!! We're going to kick your asses and take them. We just want you to know why we're doing it and they there's no disrespect from either of us to either of you. It just needs to happen. Nothing personal. Just business.

Full Card for AWL 191

Late in the week, the AWL Commissioner has released not only the full card for AWL 191, but a couple of explanatory notes on his booking decisions. This is HUGE!! Normally when I comment on these fight cards, it's all my speculation and educated guessing, but this time we have information right from the boss's mouth!!

AWL 191:
MAIN EVENT
Destroyers of DOOM (C) vs. 新時代 (#1)
AWL World's Tag Team Championship Match
7th Title Defense
NOTE: I had to rearrange some of the Clash of Styles Tournament matches to allow HAKAISHA! the chance to defend the Tag Team Championships this week. My apologies to any wrestlers inconvienced by this change. All affected parties were informed privately last Monday.
Ma-Ji-Ku (#1) vs. Hassan (#2)
Rank on the Line
Winner faces Project for the title next week.
NOTE: I understand that Ma-Ji-Ku is desperate to fight Project Tetsu, but it is the duty of the #1 contender to continually prove himself. I am not going to put another champion through a gauntlet of defending the title every week. I was wrong to agree to that and now we are in a real mess. Ma-Ji-Ku will get his title match, but not this week.

Lee Masters vs. Matt Classic Jr.
Fight for 4
NOTE: While it is true that Matt Classic Junior lost the Intercontinental Championship Match last week, it is also true that he has one of the best win loss ratios of anyone on the roster who is not currently champion, in the Best 4, or recently lost a Fight for 4. Therefore he gets this opportunity regardless of what happened last week. Matt Classic Junior has agreed to wrestle twice this week. I did not want to make the match. But Shin Jidai have decided that their plan is important enough to wrestle twice this week.

Azteckaizer NEO vs. ウサギKick
NOTE: This match was specifically requested by Shin Jidai. It has been a long time since Azteckaizer NEO had the opportunity to wrestle one on one and I am interested in learning more about the Star of Aztec.

Black Tiger III (2/4) vs. Yamada Jiro (0/4)
Clash of Styles Tournament Match
Tiger Style vs. Strong Style

Kid Canada (2/4) vs. Sammy Nix (6/4)
Clash of Styles Tournament
Technical vs. Specialist

AWL By the Numbers 10/27

It's a tense time in this company, that much should be obvious. But the show goes on and since we have a new champion, it makes sense to take a look at the state of the Animated Wrestling League...by the numbers:

AWL Grand Championship:
Current Champion: Project 鉄.
Length of Reign: 4 days (since 10/23/16)
Title Defenses: 0

AWL Best 4:
1. Ma-Ji-Ku
2. Hassan
3. Wyvern
4. TBD

AWL World's Tag Team Championships:
Current Champions: The Destroyers of DOOM!
Length of Reign: 173 days (Since 5/4/16)
Title Defenses: 6

3 Point System:
Shin Jidai (Wyvern & Matt Classic Jr.): 3 Points

All Americans: 2 Points
The Empire: 2 Points
Spicy BLACK: 2 Points

RUZAI (Bruce Hoyt & Maglubiyet Jr.): 1 Point

All other teams: 0 Points

AWL Intercontinental Championship:
Current Champion: Chiba Akagi
Length of Reign: 61 Days (Since 8/28/16)
Title Defenses: 2 of 5

BATSUMANIA Danger Zone Rankings:
Rather unusually, we have a three way tie for the 4th worst win loss record. That means that six wrestlers currently sit in the Danger Zone. This will hopefully all be sorted out by the end of the season.

Ma-Ji-Ku rallies the troops

(The following message has been translated from Spanish)
You heard him! Doctor Jigoku is planning on destroying the entire AWL just to satisfy his own ego. And he has the power to do it too! He's the one behind the skull head killer that's been breaking necks around here all season.

George Fraser beats an Augment? SNAP.
Strike Take betrays the Augments? SNAP.
Waza Breaker loses too many times? SNAP!
And it won't end there. Anyone who crosses the Augments puts their career and life at risk.

I'm the #1 Contender. You'll see when it happens to me. I'm going to wrestle Project Tetsu and we'll see if that monster shows his ugly face. But if he does, you'll know I'm right.

Shin Jidai, AWL All Stars, All Americans, New Classics, every technico on this roster, we need to come together. We have the strength of numbers. We can stop this threat. We can save the AWL form the forces of evil.

Who's with me?

--Ma-Ji-Ku

SUPERIOR!!

VICTORY!! At last I have the AWL Grand Championship!! My Project Tetsu has finally proven himself SUPERIOR!! A new day has dawned in the Animated Wrestling League. A day of machine over man. A day of science over sport. A day of SUPERIORITY over obselesence!
So come luchadores, come dreamers, come dragons, and come all who dare oppose me. The champion awaits your challenge. But beware, your weak human flesh will crumble and collapse against the forces at my command. I am Dr. Jigoku and I have the gold. That means I make the rules!

I don't care about the AWL Commissioner or his impotent rule book. I will do whatever I chose with my champion. From now on, I am the sole artist of the title picture. And yes, I am more than open to bribes. My champion defends the title if and when I choose! And if that worthless commissioner tries to tell us what to do, I will melt his precious belt down and use it to make an electronic back scratcher.

ALL HAIL THE CHAMPION! ALL HAIL THE AUGMENTS!! ALL HAIL JIKOGU!!

Welcome to hell!

--Dr. Jigoku

Saturday, October 22, 2016

Here we go again.

For the third week in a row, I'm handing over the last blog post before an AWL episode to Ganba and Dr. Jigoku. You all know the drill.

Dr. Jigoku:
My plan is proceeding as I have foreseen. Ganba has defeated my...lesser creations with relative ease. But as I predicted, Ganba was unable to use his full force against Mahou Crusher and had to resort to reversing an ultracanrana into a roll up to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. This time, he will not be so lucky. This time he faces his own Augment...his own SUPERIOR! The weakness of flesh shall fall away and the glory of the metallic shall rise and take it's rightful place as AWL Grand Champion!

Ganba (Translated from Japanese):

Yes. I am tired. Yes. Mahou Crusher was more of a challenge than I predicted. But I am not beaten and I will not be defeated by a mechanical puppet pretending to be a wrestler. All title reigns end and mine will be no different. But not here and not now! Jigoku! You don't have the courage to fight in the ring yourself so you send your minions to do it. They didn't work for what they have. They didn't train day in and day out the way every last REAL wrestler in that locker room has. We know your secret Jigoku. You're nothing but a fake and your minions just don't have what it takes to do what I do. いつも頑張ります!

Promos from the Undercard

Wonder Kid: Who the hell fights for free? That jackass commissioner thinks he can fire ME! The longest reigning champion in this rinky dink promotion's history! Well, think again! The Man Muscle Mountain's services are in demand all over the world. So it's MY choice to fight on Sunday...and I will. I want to squash that bug so bad...heh...yeah, I'll do it for free.

Chiba Akagi (Translated from Japanese):
One down and four to go! Matt Classic Jr. is the man I beat to win this title in the first place. That means I know I can beat him. But it also means he won't underestimate me. So I have been studying the history of submission wrestling and I think I've got something a modern minded wrestler like Matt won't have a counter for. Hopefully, that will put me one step closer to the Grand Championship.

Matt Classic Jr.:

You've probably all heard that my man Wyvern has a plan to stop the Augments once and for all, but for that plan to work, we need gold. Next week, we've got a shot at the World's Tag Team Titles, but the IC Title will give us a viable back up plan. So Chiba Akagi, it's nothing personal, but I need to beat you on Sunday and take that belt home to Shin Jidai. See you in the ring!

Full Card and CoS Update

The AWL Commissioner's office has released the full card for this Sunday's AWL 190. On a related note, the boss has be unusually quiet the last week or so. I wonder if he's regretting putting Ganba through this trio of back to back to back title defenses. Yes, Ganba asked for it, but I hope the Grand Champion hasn't bitten off more than he can chew.
AWL 190
MAIN EVENT
Ganba (C) vs. Project (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match
3rd Title Defense

Chiba Akagi (C) vs. Matt Classic Jr.
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
2nd Title Match

山田二郎 (2/5) vs. Sammy Nix (4/5)
Clash of Styles Tournament
Strong Style vs. Specialists

HAKAISHA! (2/5) vs. Ma-Ji-Ku (2/5)
Clash of Styles Tournament
Powerhouse vs. Lucha Libre

Jack Butcher vs. Wyvern
Fight for 4

American Beetle vs. Wonder Kid

Some interesting match ups in the CoS this week, but the big surprise is Jack Butcher coming back. I don't think we've seen this guy since he lost the AWL Intercontinental Title to Matt Classic Jr. (Who then lost it to current champion Chiba Akagi). And it's interesting to that he's set to face the man we learned just yesterday is a man on a mission to get his hands on AWL gold. Should be an interesting show.

Before I go, here are the current standings in the Clash of Styles Tournament:
Results: As of 188
1. Hardcore: Tanaka Kenichi (6/4)

2. Specialists: Sammy Nix (4/5)

3. Lucha Libre: Ma-Ji-Ku (2/5)
3. Powerhouse: HAKAISHA! (2/5)

4. Tiger Style: Black Tiger III (2/4)

5. Technical: Kid Canada (2/4)

6. Strong Style: Yamada Jiro (0/5)

7. Brawler: Luke James (0/4)

NOTE: In the case of a tie, the number of matches remaining is taken into account. The more matches you have left, the higher your potential total score.

Words from Wyvern

Two weeks ago, we all saw Wyvern use the Seigi no Hammer in Shin Jidai's tag team match with The New Classics. Previously, the Young Dragon had vowed to use this potentially career ending move only in the defense of the Animated Wrestling League. So why did he use it on a Season Zero original? Well, it took a lot longer than I expected, but I finally managed to talk to Wyvern and asked what possible justification he could have:

Wyvern (Translated from Japanese): Yes. I did promise to only use the hammer in defense of the AWL. And that's exactly what I did. Right now, the biggest danger to the AWL is the guy in the skull mask that's been attacking people and ending careers. Much like Ma-Ji-Ku, I believe this monster is the creation of Dr. Jigoku, making him and The Augments the biggest threat to the AWL.

Shin Jidai is dedicated to stopping the forces of evil in professional wrestling. And we have a plan that we think will stop The Augments and reveal the truth. But we need the AWL World's Tag Team Championships to do it. I'm sorry I had to hurt someone I respect, but we had to win the match. Just like we have to win at AWL 191. If this works, it'll all be worth it.

Follow up from AWL 189

Greetings wrestling fans! Just a few quick notes today.

1. After his actions last Sunday against Hassan and American Beetle, Wonder Kid has been fined the equivalent of weeks pay. Additionally, at the request of the All Americans, American Beetle shall face Wonder Kid one on one at AWL 190. A match Wonder Kid shall not be paid for. Failure to appear will result in immediate termination.

2. The Gauntlet of the Augments continues this weekend as Ganba defends the AWL Grand Championship against Project Tetsu next Sunday at AWL 190.

3. The AWL Commissioner enjoyed having two title matches last week, so not only will the Grand Championship be defended, the Intercontinental Championship will be defended as well. The challenger has not been announced.

Stay tuned here every day this week for more news from the Animated Wrestling League.

Final interviews before AWL 189,

Concluding this week's plethora of promos, we're doing what we always do. That's right, it's time to hear from the champion and challenger (or the challenger's manager in this case) in tomorrow's AWL Grand Championship Match. First, the creator of the Augments:

Dr. Jigoku:
Usagi Kick did his job well. I could tell, that weak human was exhausted keeping up with my cybernetic rabbit. Yes, he hit the Ishoukenmei and won the match as I predicted he would. But this week he faces my Engine of Destruction. Project #005 pretty much single handedly won me the Video Cybernetico Match. Ganba had trouble keeping up with #003, he'll be caught blinded sided by #005. His limited mind will not be able to process what is happening directly in front of him.

It is possible that, should the match go on long enough that Ganba's inferior mind may begin to adapt and he'll find a way to win. But I promise it won't be in anywhere near as decisive a fashion as he did last week. Then next week, #001 will finish the job and bring me my championship!

Ganba:(Translated from Japanese)
I've wrestled the Doombunny and Usagi Kick is no Doombunny. I've wrestled Ma-Ji-Ku and I doubt Mahou Crusher is anything like Ma-Ji-Ku. Speaking of Ma-Ji-Ku, he and I have been talking a lot lately and he has given me insight into many things. Not the least of which is you Dr. Jigoku. The kind of man you are and the flaws in your thinking. I'll be ready for this week, next week, and whatever comes next.

The belt stays with me.

Comments from The Destroyers of DOOM & Liga Cosmica

I told you I'd be back. This weekend at AWL 189, the Destroyers of DOOM will defend their AWL World Tag Team Titles for the 6th time and against the first set of challengers to come out of the 2016 Tag Matsuri. I managed to get some words with both champions and challengers.

Liga Cosmica: (Translated from Spanish)

Erupticon Solar: I didn't expect to be here. But the AWL is a true land of opportunity! Less than a year wrestling and less than half a dozen matches together and we're 2 days away from standing across the ring from the AWL World Tag Team Champions. Do we have a strategy? No, not really. We're going to continue the way we have been. Giving everything we can and showing the world our form of Lucha.

Estrella Dorada: And our Lucha is all we shall need. The Animated Wrestling League has thusfar proven to be no challenge for us. This company shall benefit from having us on top as it's World Tag Team Champions. We will raise the level of the AWL Tag Team Division to heights never before dreamed of. The stars are on our side. We shall be the next AWL World Tag Team Champions!

And now, a few words from the champions:
Destroyers of DOOM!: (Translated from Japanese as needed)

HAKAISHA!: Well, we asked for the Tag Matsuri to up the level of competition around here. And we certainly got what we asked for. And you know what? We couldn't be happier! Now we have not one, but two sets of challengers and more on the horizon. We're looking forward to some great title matches.

Now, these new kids, Solar Flare and Gold Star. Sorry, I can't speak Spanish. They're fast and they have the energy of youth. But nobody's faster than my partner and I'm not an old man quite yet. These young luchadores have all the potential in the world and they have made an impressive beginning. I look forward to watching their future growth. But it's not their time to be champions. Not yet.

(At this point The DOOMBUNNY popped into the room and spouted off something so quick that I couldn't catch most of it. It sounded like either a promise to winn on Sunday, or a recipe for an ice cream sundae. I'm guessing the former.)

Tomorrow, we finish up the week with the AWL Grand Champion and the man behind the monsters. That's right Ganba and Dr. Jigoku will be my guests tomorrow.

Comments from the AWL Roster

With the full card for AWL 189 being announced unusually early in the week, I've had time to track down and talk to many of the participants in this weekend's matches. First, the two men in the Fight for 4:

Hassan: I'm ready. I'm ready to take back my AWL Grand Championship. Ganba is a great champion, but I know I can beat him. Him being a 7 time champion means he's lost the belt 6 times. I've only lost it once and that was to the best in Japan today. As for the Augments. Yeah, those things creep me out. But once I get in the ring, it's just me and my opponent. Nothing else matters.

Speaking of not mattering, Wonder Kid. When's the last time you did anything around here? Season 2? Season 3? While you were out learning how to look like an overgrown Young Lion, I was establishing the Intercontinental Championship and winning the Grand Championship. Meet me in the ring this Sunday and we'll see if you have anything left.

Wonder Kid: That belt is mine! Nobody has EVER held a heavyweight title around here longer than ME!! It's well past time that I take my title back and finally get my full year! And no shrimpy little wimp who had to invent a belt to win one is going to stand in my way!

Strong words and accusations from both men. Now let's turn the clock back to last week. Once again the masked man known as Hasaiki attacked Hifumi Ryuji. While I've been unale to track down Hasaiki, I was able to get a few moments with his victim:

Hifumi Ryuji (translated from Japanese): Hasaiki? Yeah, if you find that guy, let him know that I want him in the ring. One on one. Fair fight. And tell the Commissioner that I don't care if he has to offer Hasaiki a contract to make it happen, I want that match! Once I have him fair and square, it's going to end EXACTLY the same way as our Graduation Match...1. 2. 3!!!

Finally today, I have some brief comments from the 4 men who will continue in the Clash of Styles Tournament this Sunday:

Black Tiger III: One match. One step closer to taking his mask. Nobody betrays the Tiger's Den and nobody wears the mantle of Tiger who has not earned it!

Luke James: OK, so it hasn't been a good start in this tournament. Fine. But Black Tiger III hasn't won any matches either. So the way I recon it, we're even. He can bring all his freaky training and his special effects. I'll just bring my fists.

Tanaka Kenichi: I am besto! I am wiina! You am Canada! You am loser! I am cool you am f*ck!

Kid Canada: I'm in the middle of the pack now, eh? I can deal with that. The good news is that I KNOW I am a better wrestler than Tanaka Kenichi. He is everything I've had to fight my entire career. He's cheated, stolen, and blackmailed his way to the top while guys like me have been in the background working twice as hard for have the success. Well, this Sunday his luck runs out.

I'll be back tomorrow with comments from the fighters in one of our two upcoming title matches.

Full Card for AWL 189

It's a little early in the week for this, but much of this week's fight card pretty much books itself. So here's what we can expect at AWL 189:

First, what we already knew:
AWL 189
MAIN EVENT
Ganba (C) vs. Mahou Crusher (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match
2nd Title Defense

Black Tiger III (0/5) vs. Luke James (0/5)
Clash of Styles Tournament
Tiger Style vs. Brawlers

Tanaka Kenichi (4/5) vs. Kid Canada (2/5)
Clash of Styles Tournament
Hardcore vs. Technical

And now the news:
Semi-Final
The Desrtoyers of DOOM! (C) vs. Liga Cosmica (3)
AWL World Tag Team Championship Match
6th Title Defense

We saw the young luchadores make history in the AWL by earning 3 points in less than a month. Now they seek to do the impossible and become only the second undefeated AWL World Tag Team Champions in AWL History.
Hassan vs. Wonder Kid
Fight for 4
I admit, this match caught me off guard. But then I took a look at the AWL Win-Loss records and these two are at the peak of the standings when you take out current champions and current members of the Best 4. So they will face each other with the winner taking Usagi Kick's place in the AWL Hassan wants to climb the mountain back to the Grand Championship and Wonder Kid will be making his return for the first time in more than a month.

Over the rest of the week I'll have comments from the various men and monsters who will be in competition at AWL 189.

Business is picking up King!

After last Sunday's AWL Episode (which contained significantly fewer fights and sexual references than the presidential debate), the current rankings in the AWL Clash of Styles Tournament look like this:

1. Hardcore: Tanaka Kenichi (4/5)
1. Specialists: Sammy Nix (4/5)

2. Lucha Libre: Ma-Ji-Ku (2/5)
2. Powerhouse: HAKAISHA! (2/5)
2. Technical: Kid Canada (2/5)

3. Strong Style: Yamada Jiro (0/5)
3. Tiger Style: Black Tiger III (0/5)
3. Brawler: Luke James (0/5)

As you can see, the field is starting to separate out and we now have two joint leaders in Specialist and Hardcore Representatives Sammy Nix and Tanaka Kenichi. Two more matches will take place this weekend at AWL 189.
Black Tiger III (0/5) vs. Luke James (0/5)

Tanaka Kenichi (4/5) vs. Kid Canada (2/5)

Black Tiger III and Luke James will be looking to get their first points on the board and it's hard to look at this as anything less than a must win match for both men. In the second match, Tanaka Freaking Kenichi (Seriously, how is that idiot doing this well??) is looking to take a commanding lead and firmly set himself in 1st place. But standing in his way is a very Canadian man who is simply just a better wrestler than he is.

Additionally, I have learned that the evil Dr. Jigoku has insisted that the next two Grand Championship Matches (both featuring his Augments as challengers) will take place over the next two weeks. While the AWL Commissioner was against this at first, Ganba also pushed for the matches to take place. I don't know if this is out of confidence or a desire to get this gauntlet over with, but I personally think the champ is playing right into Jikogu's hands. But what I think doesn't matter. The AWL Commissioner has made it official:

AWL 189
MAIN EVENT
Ganba (C) vs. Mahou Crusher (#1)
AWL Grand Championship Match
2nd Title Defense

I hope everybody knows what they're getting into.

AWL 188: Ganba vs. Usagi Kick

AWL 188: Ganba vs. Usagi Kick by AWLBoss

Comments from Champion and Mad Science

As is customary, I'm turning over this final blog post before AWL 188 to the champion and challenger in tomorrow's AWL Grand Championship Match. I asked both Ganba and Dr. Jigoku their thoughts on this match. Their responses were...interesting.

Dr. Jigoku: I don't care about this match in the slightest! Oh, I care about the AWL Grand Championship. I care about beating that decrepit sack of flesh and bone you call "Ganba." But that's not going to happen in this match. Augment #003's assignment isn't to win the belt. It's to HURT Ganba. Weaken him. Make him easier prey for #001. Yes, there's always an off chance I've miscalculated Ganba's human fraility and #003 wins somehow. But that's not the plan. And when I control the AWL Grand Championship, Phase 1 will be complete! And I can continue to prove my science...SUPERIOR!

Ganba: (Translated from Japanese) I knew when I won this Grand Championship that the Augments were coming. This is just the first step. But I am not looking past Usagi Kick. He is fast and his kicks are impressively strong no matter how artificial they might be. I've been studying footage of his matches and I believe I can train to resist or counter his attacks. The Augments are a mountain-like challenge. But I do not quit, I do not give up, I always try my best. いつも頑張ります!

Commissioner's Weekly Address

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I am the AWL Commissioner.

There are two matters I wish to clear up with you. The first is regarding the AWL Wrestler known as Frederick Victor. I do not like liars and I shall not suffer fools. In addition to the fines and penalties already imposed upon The Empire, Mister Victor WILL compete and will face the youngest member of the AWL Roster: Hifumi Ryuji! Failure to compete shall result in IMMEDIATE release from his contract!

On a more serious matter, I have received a communication from the...manager...of the Augments, Dr. Jigoku. He wishes for his man Usagi Kick to utilize his title opportunity this weekend at AWL 188. I have informed Ganba of the challenge and the gauntlet has been picked up. This Sunday, Ganba will meet the first of three challenges of the Augments.

THIS! I have COMMISSIONED!!!!!!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
--XOXO AWL Commissioner

Old Business

Happy October wrestling fans. I thought it would be a good idea to start this week with a few bits of old business.

1. AWL 187 is ONLINE AND AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING!! I have no idea why it took the better part of 24 hours for the show to encode, but it's now available both on Dailymotion and right here on AWL Wrestling.

2. Monday morning I spoke to AWL senior medical official Dr. Marcus Feelgood regarding the mysterious injury that kept Frederick Victor from wrestling last Sunday and forced the emergency change of opponents for Lee Masters.

Long story short, Marcus had no earthly clue what I was talking about. The injury was a total fraud!! The AWL Commissioner was PISSED OFF as I'm sure you can imagine. Both members of The Empire have been fined and Lee Masters has been awarded the winner's share of the purse from the match. However, since Masters agreed to the match and the official acknowledged the victory, the results still stand in the AWL Win-Loss Records. The referee's decision is final.

3. On to more pleasant things, as was announced at AWL 187, Liga Cosmica will make their regular season debut this coming week. I can now announce their opponents...THE AUGMENTS! Liga Cosmica are sitting on 2 Points after the Tag Gauntlet so if they beat whatever combination of freaks and monsters Dr. Jigoku can cough up, they will earn a shot at the AWL World Tag Team Championships!

4. Speaking of the tag team titles, Shin Jidai and The New Classics also have a date with tak team destiny in the form of a rematch with 2 Points in play. Shin Jidai will be represented by the combination of Matt Classic Jr. And the 2016 New Year's Tournament Winner, Wyvern.

5. According to the AWL Rule Book, in the event that more than one team holds 3 points, the team that wins their third point first will get the first title match with future title matches proceeding on a first won-first served basis.

Lastly, I have been told that the AWL Commissioner will make a formal address to you, the AWL fans tomorrow so stay tuned to this blog!

AWL 187: Chiba Akagi vs. Prince Puma (I hope!)

AWL 187: Chiba Akagi vs. Prince Puma by AWLBoss

I've been waiting for this damn thing to encode for about 9 hours now.  Hopefully it will be available sooner rather than later  But I need to get something posted.  Hopefully this will be only a slight delay.  If not I might need to pull a TNA and find a new network.

Full Card for AWL 187

In real life I've been having medical problems the last few days.  So a day late and a hundred yen short here is the full card for AWL 187:

MAIN EVENT
Chiba Akagi (C) vs. Prince Puma
AWL Intercontinental Championship Match
1st Title Defense
The Scion of Submission won the AWL IC Title nearly a month ago and he hasn't been booked to defend it once.  That is an unacceptable oversight by the AWL Commissioner.  Well, he's making up for it tonight by booking the first ever Lucha Underground Champion as the challenger.  Fresh of an impressive if not successful run at the Tag Matsuri, Prince Puma is looking to forge his own path to the AWL Grand Championship.  Can the young man from Yokohama stop him?

Black Tiger III (0/6) vs. Ma-Ji-Ku (2/6)
Clash of Styles Tournament

Sammy Nix (2/6) vs. HAKAISHA (2/6)
Clash of Styles Tournament
This week the AWL Clash of Styles Tournament enters the second round.  Nix, HAKAISHA, and Ma-Ji-Ku are looking to establish themselves as the first clear leader in the tournament and Black Tiger III is looking to stay in the running.  There is only one Golden Opportunity and there can only be one Ultimate Style of Professional Wrestling.

Frederick Victor vs. Lee Masters
At the Tag Matsuri there was a disputed call in the Tag Team Gauntlet.  It appeared that the wrong team was disqualified when The Empire met The New Classics.  Now the technical experts of these two teams will settle things in the AWL Ring.

Ganba vs. Bruce Hoyt
Non-Title Match
Also at the Tag Matsuri, Bruce Hoyt PINNED the AWL Grand Champion.....after punching him in the gonads.  Time for revenge!!

Mr. Smiles vs. Curry Man SPICY
MR. SMILES WON A MATCH...that didn't count.  Grudge Matches don't count in the AWL Win-Loss Rankings so Mr. Smiles and Tiny beating Spicy BLACK still didn't give him his first regular season AWL win.  He will get another chance this in this match with the former King of Spice.
