The AWL All Stars (Ganba, Luke James (#3), & Mr. Smiles)

While Mr. Smiles is not a member of the AWL All Stars, he was a good friend of Tiny’s and asked to be included in this match.  Both Ganba and the AWL Commissioner agreed.

While it’s rare for me to editorialize (Why are you laughing?), I hope the AWL All Stars kick the ever-loving crap out of The Augments.

The following message has been translated from the original Japanese by the AWL Translation Team:

Tiny is dead.  His neck snapped by a monster we all thought vanquished.  When I first came to the AWL, Tiny was the first man to welcome me into the locker room.  He was a good wrestler and a better person.  This has gone far enough.  I speak for the entire AWL Roster when I say, we want the Augments GONE!  Obviously, we can’t do that while Wrestler X is still Grand Champion.  Therefore, I am hereby offering myself as coach for all future challengers.  Together, we’ll bring that belt back home.

But for right now, The AWL All Stars DEMAND a match with the Augments.  All of them.  Trios Match!  AWL Commissioner, with all due respect, MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Final Promos from Champion and Challenger.

Let’s hear from the champion and challenger in tomorrow’s AWL Grand Championship Match.  First, the challenger:

August 26^th, 2012.

AWL 25.  

That was the night I beat Matt Classic Sr. to become AWL World’s Heavyweight Champion.

I’d been in the AWL for a couple of years at that point and I’d spent most of that time being somebody’s lackey.  But that night I stood across the ring from one of the greatest of all time and I beat him.  I held that title belt above my head and heard the words I’d been waiting to hear said about me ever since I was a kid, “Here is your winner and the NEWWWWWWW heavyweight champion of the world…”  It was the culmination of a dream.

I lost that title less than a month later to a crazy werewolf, but that’s how the wrestling business goes sometimes.  Since then I’ve become a triple crown champion, winning both the tag belts and the old anarchy championship.  But AWL 25 has always seemed like the pinnacle of my career.  But now I find myself with another chance…probably my last chance.

Wrestling is a young man’s sport and I ain’t a young man no more.  I’m going into this match with the mindset that this will be my last chance.  Wrestler X, copy my moves, my strength, my power all you like.  But there are two things you can’t copy: My heart…and the fact that I have nothing to lose.

In all the heavens, there is nothing more despicable than a traitor.  Many orbits of this planet have transpired since Mexico saw a star as big as El Caracas.  He was a hero to the masses and one of the greatest luchador any sentient being had ever witnessed.

But then the dark eclipse of GWM fell over the wrestling world.  And the shining star fell to the earth.

El Caracas, the people of Mexico were counting on you to defend their home and honor as lucha libre fans from GWM, but instead you turned your back on them.  How much?  How many pieces of silver did you cost?  As much as one of Ms. X’s whips?  Do you at least cost more than any of her other toys?

The AWL Commissioner has announced three more matches for this weekend.  Two of them are just confirmations of what we already knew (or would know if you saw AWL 212 (available below)) and one is brand new.

So the AWL Grand Championship is on the line and a total of 3 points are on offer (With a chance of finding new #1 Contenders for the AWL World’s Tag Team Championship) this weekend at AWL 213.

You just can't do that.

Unsportsmanlike behavior is common in professional wrestling, but that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable, especially from a respected veteran and locker room leader.  Last week, during the Fight for 4, AWL All Star Luke James physically interfered in the match to prevent the referee from counting Ganba’s shoulders down.

This is completely unacceptable and Luke James has been fined for his infraction.  However, as Wyvern won the match anyway, the AWL Commissioner has decided that no suspension is warranted at this time.

But that isn’t enough for The Young Dragon.  Wyvern has challenged Luke James to a one on one contest to settle the matter and, to his credit, Luke James has agreed.  The match has been scheduled for next weekend at AWL 213.

With The Empire’s victory over The Menagerie at The Golden War, the eternal quest for 3 points continues in earnest.  This weekend, two precious points are up for grabs:

This next tag team match…makes a little less sense:

OK, here’s what I know so far.  According to what I heard from the AWL Commissioner’s secretary, Hassan wasn’t satisfied simply beating American Beetle at The Golden War so he asked for a rematch.  Apparently, the only way American Beetle would agree to the match is if Cage could join him in a tag team match.  (Personally, I think he just wants to hide behind the big lunkhead.)

This leaves Hassan in a bad spot because he’s been minus a tag team partner ever since his previous partner, you know, stabbed him in the back and started making his life miserable.

As a result, Hassan has to find a partner and I have to put a big question mark in the middle of one of my news posts.  I freaking hate that.

Two more matches announced

One of the bright spots of The Golden War was the return of Ganba and Luke James to the AWL Roster.  Since AWL 212 will be their first show back, the AWL Commissioner has decided to highlight The Japanese Megastar and The Peacemaker in singles matches:

Even with Ganba out of action for half a season, he still has one of the best Win-Loss Records in the AWL, which means he’s more than qualified for an opportunity to reenter the Best 4 and possibly become the first ever two time AWL Grand Champion.

Luke James vs. Project 鉄

When Luke James said that the AWL All Stars had some old business to deal with, it appears he meant the Augments.  This match, specifically requested by Luke James, pits the big hearted cowboy from Nashville against the heartless automaton from Dr. Jigoku’s laboratory.  What the heck is he thinking?

Fall out from The Golden War.

The Animated Wrestling League was humiliated last week!  Myself, the AWL Commissioner, the Translation Team, and even the temp workers nobody remembers ten minutes after they leave worked our collective backsides off to put together a one of a kind tournament.  Something that has never been attempted in professional wrestling before (and probably never will again) and the AWL Grand Champion LOSES IN THE FIRST ****ING ROUND!!!

Well, that simply won’t stand.  The AWL Commissioner has decided that Wrestler X simply can’t be allowed to remain at AWL Grand Champion any longer than necessary.  Therefore, the following match has been announced for AWL 212:

Winner faces Wrestler X for the title at AWL 213!

No matter who wins this number once contender’s match, the king of gimmick infringement will have to channel his inner monster to keep his belt at AWL 213.

While the Ultimate Summit was an embarrassment for the AWL, it was yet another accolade in the career of easily the best Japanese wrestler of the 2010’s, the Rainmaker Okada Kazuchika now has a Golden Opportunity.  The unquestionable right to demand any match, any time, any place, any opponent, any stipulation and not even the AWL Commissioner can veto it!

However, Okada is not the only man in the AWL with such power.  THUGLIFE Tanaka Kenichi also holds a Golden Opportunity that he got for winning the Clash of Styles tournament last season.  (Golden Opportunities do not expire.)

So, because he’s not above booking a match just because it’s intuitive (and because we all enjoy watching Tanaka Kenichi getting his ass kicked) the AWL Commissioner has done the obvious:
