All the news that's fit to post.

First off, please allow me to apologize for the delay in posting this. As you will see, we tried to get comments from both Ben Nelson and A.J. Styles, but Styles did not get back to us by our deadline. The decision was made to push back publishing this article rather than putting it up half finished. With that said, we have the second semi final match of the AWL Championship Tournament set for this Sunday morning (Japan Time) so once again we go to the competitors for their comments and predictions. First (Because he actually submitted his in time), "Big" Ben Nelson:

Alright folks, time for a little history class. Last season I EARNED my way into the AWL Best 4. I was ready to smash through that glass ceiling and become the first ever British AWL World Champion. However, it was all snatched away from me by a stupid slag and her muscle bound berk. By the time I got off the injured list, Matt Classic had retired and this stupid tournament scraped the whole best 4 system!! No body gave me a chance in hell to win this thing. If I'm honest, neither did I. But now I'm only 1 win away from the main event of the Season Finale and FINALLY getting MY bloody title shot! A.J. Styles make be the greatest wrestler of his generation, but his time is over and mine is just beginning!

And now (Finally) A.J. Styles:

Who the hell is Ben Nelson and what's so big about him? Nothin, that's what! Let's face it, I'm A.J. Styles. We all know I'm the star here and that I'm going to be the next champion of this rinky dink indy fed. Because the AWL needs me. Now buzz off, I finally found like the only turkey in this entire freaking country so let me enjoy my Thanksgiving!

And now news from the Light Heavyweight division: At AWL 114, Ma-Ji-Ku pinned the DOOMBUNNY to retain the AWL Tag Team Championship for the Masters of the Mask. The AWL Commissioner wanted to offer the Master of Lucha Libre an opportunity for a title shot, but Ma-Ji-Ku said no. Apparently Ma-Ji-Ku is dealing with some nagging injuries and wants to take a couple of weeks to heal so that he's as close to 100% as possible for their next scheduled title defense at AWL 120.

So his partner, El Santo Azul will face the DOOMBUNNY tomorrow at AWL 116 in a non-title match and if he beats the champion he will face the champion!

Check back here in less than 24 hours for AWL 116!

2 Tag Team Matches Signed!

We. Need. Number. One. Contenders. With AWL 120 just over a month away, the AWL Commissioner has decreed that the next team to obtain 3 points will get their title shot at the Season 6 Finale. With that in mind, let's look at the current point totals for the tag team division:

Big & Spicy—2 Points.
The New Classics—2 Points
Dragon & James—2 Points (Team Inactive)
Danger Riders—1 Point
All other teams—0 Points

With this in mind, the AWL Commissioner has booked the following two tag team matches for this weekend at AWL 116:

Danger Riders (1) vs. The Bullet Club (0)
2 Point/15 Minute Match

Big & Spicy (2) vs. The New Classics (2)

The Danger Riders vs. Bullet Club match is a rematch from a time limit draw between these two teams at AWL 113, hence the 2 points up for grabs. This is a MUST win match for the Danger Riders as it is their last chance to escape the Danger Zone.

This puts us in an interesting situation where we must examine the official AWL Rulebook:

In the event of two teams earning 3 points on a single show, the team that earns their 3rd point earlier in the evening (In this case Danger Riders if they beat The Bullet Club) are considered #1 contenders. The team the wins their point later in the evening are considered #2 contenders. (Parenthetical added)

That's what's happening in the land of the tag teams, check back tomorrow for all the news in the heavyweight division.

New Match signed for AWL 120!

This just in!  We already know that all three AWL Championships will be decided at AWL 120, including the finals of the AWL Championship Tournament.  But this just announced:  There will be a "Bronze Medal Match" between the losers of the two semi final matches.  The results of this match will be taken into account when determining the first #1 Contender for the AWL World Heavyweight Championship in Season 7.

Thar means the current line up for the Season 6 Finale is:

Main Event:
AWL World Heavyweight Championship
Tournament FINAL!
HAKAISHA! vs. A.J. Styles

AWL World Tag Team Championship
Masters of the Mask (C) vs. ????

AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship
DOOMBUNNY (C) vs. ????

Bronze Medal Match
Kid Canada vs. "Big" Ben Nelson

BATSUMANIA!
El Rudo Rojo vs. ???? vs. ???? vs. ????

Obviously there are still quite a few gaps to fill in and this card is subject to change.  So stay tuned to the AWL for all the developments as we rush headlong toward the Season Finale!

Danger Zone Rankings post AWL 115.

OK ladies and gentlemen, here's what the DANGER ZONE currently looks like:

Wrestler           Win         Loss        Total as of AWL 115
El Rudo Rojo 19 -33 -14   DANGER ZONE
田中健一 13 -25 -12   DANGER ZONE
American Beetle 25 -35 -10   DANGER ZONE
Luke James 13 -22 -9   DANGER ZONE
Tiger Mask II 20 -29 -9   DANGER ZONE

Remember, Luke James' scheduled match with American Beetle officially did not happen and is not included in the current rankings.

But that's not the big news here.  With only 4 weeks until Batsumania is finalized, and El Rudo Rojo 6 wins away from escaping the zone, he is not mathematically LOCKED!  He WILL be in Batsumania once again!  It only remains to be seen who will join him.

Full card for AWL 115

Posting this on the road from my phone.  So let's keep this short and sweet!  Here's the action we've got in store for you at AWL 115 this weekend:

Main Event:
Kid Canada vs. HAKAISHA!
AWL Championship Tournament Semifinal Match 1

"Peacemaker" Luke James vs. American Beetle
Battle to escape the Danger Zone

Project Tetsu vs. E.N. Hance
1st match for the new Augment!

Big & Spicy (0) vs. The Bullet Club (1)
2 Point/15 Minute Match

I know that it looks like a short card with only 4 matches, but with a 15 minute match and a 20 minute match scheduled, we can't really fit anything else into our 60 minute broadcast window.

See you Sunday morning Japan time for AWL 115!

PROMOS!! (Seriously, we need to do more of this.)

This weekend the semi final round of the AWL Championship Tournament will begin. We're down to the final four. Either HAKAISHA!, Kid Canada, "Big" Ben Nelson, or A.J. Styles will be the new champion. This weekend, The Japanese Destroyer will face The Last Master of the Dungeon. Here now, comments from both of our semi finalists:

I have been to the top of the mountain once before. I have held the AWL World Heavyweight Championship Belt. But I can't call myself a champion. The only reason I had that opportunity was because of Yarina. Even then, it was all part of a plan to get the belt back on Wonder Kid.

But thanks to this tournament, I have a chance to do it all over again. I have a chance to do it the RIGHT WAY! This time I will become champion by MY own hand! Kid, I respect you and your skills, but nobody is going to stand in the way of my redemption. At AWL 115, you will know why I am called The Japanese Destroyer!

As always, many thanks to the AWL Translation Team for giving us an English version of that. Now, we turn the floor over to Kid Canada:

No body expected to see me here eh? Not the goofy mid-card Bret Hart wannabe. Surely the guy in the silly flag mask could never be in the main event, right? Wrong! Nearly 3 months ago I proved EVERYONE wrong when I beat Wonder Kid in the round of 16. That's right, the 14th seed beat the 3rd seed. People have been calling it The Canadian Miracle. I'm not sure I like that name personally, but that's not important right now. What's important was what happened AFTER the match. I suffered a 3 on 1 beating from Yarina Talent Management Inc. A group YOU used to be a part of HAKAISHA! I know everyone thinks you've turned over a new leaf, that you're "on the side of the angels" now. Well, we'll see about that. I get how bad you want to be champion, but there's something you don't understand big man, the glass ceiling. For decades there's been a glass celing in professional wrestling for anyone who isn't 2 meters tall with arms the size of Prince Edward Island. This is my chance, after 6 seasons, to make it to the top of this business that I love!

You may be The Japanese Destroyer, but on Sunday, you'll feel The Canadian Destroyer and I'm going to slay another giant. Then the AWL Arena and the rest of the wrestling world will be proclaiming:

OH! CANADA!!

It all takes place this weekend. Be there!!

Big tag match signed for AWL 115

We're looking for a pair of tag team #1 contenders to challenge the Masters of the Mask at AWL 120. So the quest for 3 points continues in earnest. With only weeks until the season finale, there's not a lot of time left to find worthy challengers. You all saw the current tag team rankings yesterday, so I shan't repeat them here. This weekend, two teams will have the opportunity to leap ahead in the rankings and one may even book their ticket to the finale:

Bullet Club vs. Big & Spicy
2 Point Match/15 Minute Match!

These two teams fought to a time limit draw a few weeks ago and this is the first chance the AWL Commissioner has had to book the traditional rematch. Keep in mind that A.J. Styles is still alive in the AWL Championship Tournament so double gold is a very realistic future for the Phenomenal One given his skill level. Speaking of the tournament, tune in tomorrow for a WHOLE lot of info on the next match in the AWL Championship Tournament.

Bring it Doc!

Last weekend at AWL 114, the devious Dr. Jigoku brought in a brand new Augment!  We knew Darkness Ryu was only the first, but now this new creature has come among us.  We received a message from Dr. Jigoku himself.  It was a long rambling mess, but here are the cogent details:

1. The new Augment is called Project Tetsu.

2. It was built to be an "Improved" version of Ganba.

3. Project Tetsu is some kind of partially artificial life form (Dr. Jigoku's message included a LONG list of technical details that were quite frankly over my head).

4. This is in contrast to Darkness Ryu, who is apparently an altered clone of the original Dragon.  Where he got the genetic material to make this work, I have no clue.

Now I have no idea how much of this is true, but as far as I know, Dr. Jigoku hasn't lied to us yet.  But I have some extra information for you.  By order of the AWL Commissioner, Project Tetsu WILL be in action this weekend at AWL 115.

By the Numbers 11-17-2014 Edition!

That's right folks, it's time for another edition of AWL By The Numbers!

First, Batsumania. The results from AWL 114 have been added into the Batsumania rankings and the current standings are:

Wrestler
          Win
          Loss
        Total
as of AWL 114
El Rudo Rojo
19
-33
-14
  DANGER ZONE
田中健一
13
-25
-12
  DANGER ZONE
American Beetle
25
-34
-9
  DANGER ZONE
Luke James
13
-22
-9
  DANGER ZONE
Tiger Mask II
20
-29
-9
  DANGER ZONE

There are only 5 shows between now and AWL 120. So baring a miracle, both members of the Danger Riders are pretty much screwed. As for the others, we have a 3 way tie for the last two slots. So expect several matches featuring American Beetle, Luke James, and Tiger Mask II over the next several weeks.

But returning to what I said about miracles, let's take a look at the standings in the tag team division:

New Classics: 2 Points.
Dragon & James: 2 Points.*
Danger Riders: 1 Point.
Bullet Club: 1 Point.
All other teams: 0 Points.
*Note: With Dragon still on the injured list, this team is considered inactive.

Looking at these numbers, it is possible that the Danger Riders will earn 3 points before AWL 120. That would place them in the AWL Tag Team Championship Match and they would thereby be immune from Batsumania. At which point the feild becomes WIDE open!

So it's all still to play for in AWL Season 6. Check back tomorrow when the card for AWL 115 will begin to take shape.

A message from Dr. Jigoku

Ganba, Ganba, Ganba, you silly little baseline. There's need for such.....uncivilized behavior. If you think you're going to go trapsing up and down the hallways of the AWL Arena on some sort of grand manhunt for Darkness Ryu and myself, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

What you, and the rest of the mental midgets in the AWL, have failed to realize is that unlike that fool Yarina, I have no need for deception or legal trickery to make my points.

The innate SUPERIORITY of my Augments is all I need. While I will admit to a certain flare for the dramatic and that I will not pass up a strategic advantage in the name of some outmoded code of honor, I can hardly prove the SUPERIORITY of my Augments, my science, or myself if we are constantly avoiding fights.

So Ganba, like a good horse who knows his time is done, come into my pasture of your own free will. If you want a fight tomorrow, all you have to do is walk out to the ring. That is where such business should be conducted anyway. Reveal your own obsolescence and allow those who are SUPERIOR to take their rightful place!

AWL 114 Preview

Attention Wrestling Fans!  This weekend's episode of the Animated Wrestling League looks to be of historical significance.  As reported yesterday, Ganba will be making his return to the AWL Arena this weekend.  In addition, the following matches have been confirmed by the office of the AWL Commissioner:

AWL World Tag Team Championship Match
The Masters of the Mask (C) vs. HAKAISHA! & The DOOMBUNNY (3)

After last week, tempers are flaring and the fighting spirits of these 4 men are at their peak!  There can be no better time to find out which is the greatest team in the AWL today.  As with all world tag team title matches, this match will have a 20 minute time limit and there will be no count outs.

AWL Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match 4
A.J. Styles vs. Hassan

The quest to find a worthy successor to the AWL World Heavyweight Championship continues.  This week, the leader of the Bullet Club faces the Human Paradigm Shift.  A.J. Styles has been a top champion everywhere he's worked, but can he do the same in the Animated Wrestling League?  As for Hassan, he has been sniffing around the AWL title picture for a longtime and was a member if the Best 4 at the end of Season 5.  Can he finally break through to the top of the business and take the next step to gold and glory?

Big & Spicy (0) vs. The New Classics (1)

Whomever wins the main event this weekend, we will need a new pair of #1 Contenders for the tag team titles.  And with AWL 120 (and the tradition of all titles being defended at the season finale) fast approaching, expect quite a few tag team matches over the next few weeks.  In this match we have two of the longest running tag teams in the AWL going at it once again with Points on the Line!

DANGER ZONE Tag Team Match
Danger Riders (0) vs. American Beetle & Luke James (0)

And now for something slightly different.  Yes, there is a point at stake in this match, but so much more is on the line here.  All 4 of the wrestlers in this match are in the DANGER ZONE.  Both American Beetle and Luke James need only one or two victories to save themselves, but if El Rudo Rojo and THUGLIFE 田中健一 lose this match, at least one of them will be mathematically locked!  Unable to escape the zone in time to avoid Batsumania!!

Wonder Kid vs. Wrestler X

Last week, Wonder Kid did something I honestly didn't think he would be able to do.  He actually fought someone bigger than him.....and WON!  So this week the AWL Commissioner has set him a different but no less daunting challenge.  He is set to face Wrestler X, the man with the uncanny ability to copy the entire move set of his opponents.  The Man Muscle Mountain has faced his match in size and power, but can he beat his match in skill?  It's going to be a "Pick 'em up, put 'em down, make it HURT!" festival at AWL 114.

Don't miss one second of the action this Sunday Morning (JST) only on The Animated Wrestling League.

Good News!

Well, we've all had fun laughing at Vince McMahon begging his audience to enjoy his wrestling show. Now it's my turn to do something similar. I too wish to entice you to watch my wrestling show, but I'm going to do it the right way. By giving you wrestlers and matches you want to see! We already know that the AWL World Tag Team Championship will be decided at AWL 114, but this HUGE announcement just in from the AWL Commissioner's office:

GANBA will return to the AWL this weekend at AWL 114!

That's right! The Japanese Mega Star, whom we last saw at AWL 110 getting choke slammed through the ring by Darkness Ryu, has been cleared for action by the AWL Medical Team. I spoke to our medical department head, Dr. Marcus Feelgood, this morning and he assures me that Ganba's injuries weren't as severe as we all originally thought. That fact, combined with Ganba's notorious work out and rehab regimen, have accelerated his return. I speak for the entire AWL when I say, WELCOME BACK!

We can only assume he's going to want revenge on Darkness Ryu and Dr. Jigoku. So tune in to AWL 114 for all the excitement and keep checking this blog daily for all the news about the Animated Wrestling League!

Also, this is the 400th post to this blog!!  I don't know exactly what that means in the grand scheme of things, but I'm pretty proud of it.

This is what I was talking about.

And he wonders why ratings are down and network subs are in the tank.

If you don't get this, don't worry, it'll go viral in about an hour.

I may not be the greatest wrestling promoter in the world, but I've never had to interrupt my own show and yell at the fans:
"HAVE SOME FUN HERE TONIGHT DAMMIT!!"

Stay classy Vince!

Reality comes down upon us

Honesty time!

Season 6 has been a season of experimentation in format, content, and product for the AWL.  Some of these experiments (Such as the season long tournament arc) have been successes, others.....less so.

Bringing back Mid-Week Wrestling is one of those....."Less so" experiments.  Quite simply, nobody is watching it and putting out two shows a week is more than my current time limitations can handle.  So I am hereby canceling AWL Mid-Week Wrestling for at least the remainder of the season.

I may revisit the concept of additional or supplementary programming in the future, but I think the idea of a straight up "Sunday Night Heat"-ish B Show is pretty much dead.  Hopefully, this will allow me more time to focus on the main AWL show and make that the best wrestling program I can make it.

To those of you who are reading this message, thank you.  You have no idea the joy I feel every time I see that view counter tick up.  I hope to continue to earn your viewing time.

From the desk of the AWL Commissioner:

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, I am the AWL Commissioner.

This past Sunday at the conclusion of the one hundred and thirteenth episode of the Animated Wrestling League, there was an unprovoked, unsanctioned, and unacceptable fight between four of my AWL Wrestlers.  It pains me greatly to say that the combatants consisted of all three of my active champions AND my personal enforcer.

I do not care who started the fight.  All will be dealt with equally.  Ma-Ji-Ku, El Santo Azul, DOOMBUNNY, and HAKAISHA! were not paid last week and they shall not be paid next week.  Additionally, HAKAISHA! is offically on probation.  As my personal enforcer, his actions represent both myself and this company more than the actions of any other wrestler.  If there is another such incident, I will be forced to reevaluate our professional relationship.

That said, if wrestlers want to fight, let them fight!  I was planning on saving this match for the season finale, but this weekend at Animated Wrestling League Episode 114, The Masters of the Mask WILL defend their Animated Wrestling League World Tag Team Titles against HAKAISHA! and the DOOMBUNNY!

THIS!  I have COMMISSIONED!!!!!!

--XOXO AWL Commissioner

Well, that was a cluster****!

As one of my favorite wrestlers from the attitude era used to say: WELCOME!  To the DOG house!

That message can easily be applied to both HAKAISHA! and the DOOMBUNNY after their actions last weekend.  For those of you who didn't see the end of AWL 113, please do so.  That way you'll know what I'm talking about.

From what I understand, both men received a MASSIVE reading of the riot act after their attack against the AWL World Tag Team Champions.  HAKAISHA! has a particular problem as he is not a normally contracted wrestler, but under direct employ of the AWL Commissioner rather than the company as a whole.  So he is held to a higher standard as the boss's representative.  I've been told that the AWL Commissioner himself will address this issue and other matters later today so stay tuned for that!

Also, hopefully, we'll also get some news about how the hell the last match of AWL 113 happened!!

AWL 113 Preview

We already know about one match this weekend and the rest of the card has just been announced:

AWL Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match 3
Wolf vs. "Big" Ben Nelson
The tournament to find the next AWL World's Heavyweight Champion continues this weekend as two of the best brawlers in the AWL today go at it with a birth in the semi finals on the line!

Luke James vs. Darkness Ryu
This match was already announced, but it's worth repeating.  Last week, Luke James became the first man to find a chink in the armor of Darkness Ryu.  The AWL Commissioner was all to happy to make this match happen.  As always, the wicked Dr. Jigoku was a little too eager to go along with this.  I'm not sure if this is confidence in his Augment's abilities or good old fashioned ego.  We'll all find out together this weekend.

Wonder Kid vs. Tiny
Last week, there was a personal confrontation between Tiny and Wonder Kid during the latter's match with Curry Man.  Finally, Wonder Kid fight's someone his own size/  This week we shall see who is the better man inside the AWL Ring!

Danger Riders (0) vs. Bullet Club (0)
The Danger Riders are DEEP in the Danger Zone and their only hope of salvation is to win their way into either the AWL World Tag Team Title Match at AWL 120, or the titles themselves.  Can they do it?  I doubt it, but it will be fun watching them try.

Tiger Mask II vs. Ma-Ji-Ku
After the events of AWL Mid-Week Wrestling 112.5, these two veterans of the Light Heavyweight Division will face off and the winner gets at future shot at the DOOMBUNNY for the gold!

All this and more at AWL 113, in just a few short days!!

AWL Mid-Week Wrestling 112.5

AWL Mid-Week Wrestling 112.5 by AWLBoss

This week on AWL Mid-Week Wrestling, we have 2 matches in the Light Heavyweight Division.  The winners of these two matches will meet this weekend at AWL 113 in a #1 Contender's Match for the AWL World Light Heavyweight Championship.

AWL 112 Fallout

AWL 112 was certainly a newsworthy event.  We learned a great deal more about Dr. Jigoku AND we named the 2nd Semi Finalist in the AWL Championship Tournament.

But already events from this past weekend have begun to effect next week.  This just in from the AWL Commissioner's office, a match signed for AWL 113:

Luke James vs. Darkness Ryu

This probably shouldn't surprize anyone.  Considering what Luke James did during AWL 112, but what I want to know is why Dr. Jigoku is going along with the AWL Commissioner's orders.

Also, the events of last week have altered the Danger Zone once again.  The current rankings are:

Wrestler           Win           Loss           Total
El Rudo Rojo 18 -33 -15
田中健一 12 -25 -13
El Santo Azul 26 -34 -8 AWL World Tag Team Champion
American Beetle 25 -32 -7
Curry Man 17 -24 -7
Luke James 13 -20 -7
Tiger Mask II 21 -28 -7

As you can see, the Danger Zone has swollen to the size of a small army!  Obviously, El Santo Azul, as co-holder of the AWL World Tag Team Championship, is not considered a member of the Danger Zone.  His record is included here for the sake of completeness.

So the Danger Riders are once again pretty much screwed and we have a 4 way tie for the final 2 slots.  There are still about 2 months before the season finale, so anything can still happen.  Stay tuned to the Animated Wrestling League for more of the digital destruction you've come to know and love!!

AWL 112: Kid Canada vs. THUGLIFE田中健一

AWL 112: Kid Canada vs. THUGLIFE 田中健一 by AWLBoss

Preview?  You don't want no stinking preview!!  Let's get to the wrestling!!  The AWL Championship Tournament continues!  The NEW AWL World Light Heavyweight Champion The DOOMBUNNY issues a non-title Open Challenge!  And we finally hear from the mysterious and clearly evil Dr. Jigoku!!  All that and more RIGHT NOW!!!

And I've run out of exclamation marks so just watch the show.
