How we will determine a new champion.

OK Wrestling Fans, this is the one you've been waiting nearly a month for.  The AWL Commissioner has put out a statement regarding the vacant and soon to be surrendered AWL World's Heavyweight Championship.  I'll let you hear it straight from the boss himself:

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, I am the AWL Commissioner.  First, allow me to thank Matt Classic for his years of service and the many excellent matches and memories.  On behalf of everyone in the Animated Wrestling League, Wrestler, crew, staff, and fan, we wish Matt well in all his future endeavors.  Enjoy your retirement my friend, you've earned it.

Now, let us move on to the reason you are likely all here.  What shall be the future of the AWL World's Heavyweight Championship?  Over the past several weeks I have been contemplating this most weighty of problems.  Mr. Classic's retirement breaks the lineage of the championship, for the first time in AWL history, we do not have a champion.  Obviously, for the sake of the Animated Wrestling League, we can not afford to have a paper champion.  So we are going to do something that has never been attempted before in the AWL, nor anywhere in professional wrestling: WE WILL NOT HAVE A CHAMPION.....FOR ALL OF SEASON 6!!

That is because, beginning at AWL 101, we will begin a 32-man, single elimination tournament that will conclude at AWL 120, the finale of Season 6.

AWL 101, 102, and the first episode of the revived Mid-Week-Wrestling, will consist entirely of qualifying matches. From that point forward, there shall be a single tournament match each episode until the finals in December at AWL 120 where we shall crown a NEW AWL World's Heavyweight Champion.  The winner of the tournament must win 5 consecutive matches to prove themselves worthy of the championship.

THIS!!  I have COMMISSIONED!!!  BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

There you have it wrestling fans, a season long tournament!  Something that has never been done in professional wrestling as far as I'm aware.  Tune in tomorrow when I'll reveal the full list of the 32 wrestlers who will compete in the qualifying matches at AWL 101, 102, and Mid-Week Wrestling.
